This has a very sluggish processor, cpu benchmark 660
But as said in the description its OK if all you just want to use email, web, watch DVDs and do simple office stuff.

This looks better ->http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.210-3736.aspx
CPU benchmark 1,502
£7 cheaper ?

That does look pretty good, dual core Celeron which is a half decent budget CPU

That's the one I chose in the end! Best laptop processor I've found for below £300.

I agree with previous poster - the compaq here is much better machine http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.210-3736.aspx

or even the Acer Ferrari 11.6 is better option, maybe teamed up with an external CD/DVD drive.
I think the Semperon CPU is going to be slow.... maybe good price for a budget laptop, but id try for a machine with a faster CPU if it were my money. Just my 2d.

Whilst all the tesco deals have been on here, i was comparing prices on other sites. Initially i was looking at budget laptops, but came across the dell refurb site. I don't know a great deal about laptops but have decided to look at a slightly higher spec machine. Would anyone be able to tell me if this is any good for the price, it seems to have a high spec processor, 4 gig memory, and full hd

The laptop ls the studio 1558, and the spec is any-

Intel i7-720QM(1.6GHz), Operating System English Genuine Windows 7 Home Premiu Hard Drive : 500GB Serial ATA (7200RPM) 4096MB (2x2048) 1333MHz DDR3 Dual Channe Optical Drive : 8X DVD+/-RW Drive including Roxio Burn softw 15.6 Widescreen Full High Definition (1920X1080) WLED with LCD Back Cover Black Chainlink

the cost is £563 plus £22 postage.
Does this seem good value for the spec, and does anyone know if this laptop is any good
Thanks

I was going to go for that one but it's now OOS :(

Would this Dell be ok for the Internet and watching flash based stuff? don't really need it for anything else maybe a decent battery.

*EDIT* Never mind just bought one!

Wait a couple of months if you can for Sandy Bridge laptops. Better performance, cheaper, longer battery life etc.
