this is a good deal but 90 day warranty for a this amount of money is not really a smart move, id recommend the 1 year warranty as you would be more likely to see developing faults such as hinge cracks developing after a 90 day period.

I've had Dell laptops for more than I care to admit...never had an hinge crack....don't forget you also have your statutory consumer rights i.e a laptop would be expected to remain fault free for at least 12 months if not longer.:)

You misunderstand, 90 days isn't the warranty period it's the period that the machine is covered by Dell for collection from you and return to you should anything go wrong with it. Outside of this period you'd be expected to arrange for carriage

The laptop has a 12 month warranty as does anything purchased that's new.

It's a good deal but not as good as it was last week when I ordered mine as I got the free carry case. If you didn't want the case then it is slightly cheaper.

As a side note, I contacted Dell and told them that I wanted a refund for Vista as I wasn't going to use it - £10!!!! I am sure it costs more than that so I suspect some tom foolary to stop people doing just that.

They did agree to give me £10 back for the MS WORKS that I don't want.

I'd advise making some minor upgrades such as adding truebrite to the screen, as this gives you a glossy finish to the screen and makes the films look of higher quality and also to upgrade the 4cell battery, to a 9cell battery in order for the laptops battery life to last much longer.

Don't forget to go through Quidco to receive 4.5% cashback and if you upgrade the laptop to cost over £400 excluding VAT, you'll receive an extra £25 bonus through Quidco on top of the 4.5%, so it's worth the additional upgrades.

I hope that's helpful.

Quidco is back to just the 4.5% now, the bonus cashback offer finished yesterday.
