Why is it when I go into the Dell offers, I can never get them to come out as the same price as shown on the deals?
Tried this one came out at nearly £500 for me.

Well quite a few dont like the trulife screen cause it reflects everything and the battery was a freebee so go for the best you can get, If you can stand the hassle of returning it then do so.

quidco validated £16.16 might sell the printer on e bay they seem to make decent money for a freebie

No ebay links allowed.

#17
is this laptop on special offer or is it at a normal price?
#18
ok, i am between this and the £327.00 one also listed on here.

this one looks alot better with the TL56 and 2gig Ram but £83 more.....

2 questions.

realistically how much is the free printer worth? £50.00? (to sell on)

and also is a Dell printer a Dell or rebranded something? how easy is it to get the ink is what im getting at(and at what cost)?

thanks to Mike for these deals and the wealth of info on your website.

Mike, you are so patience in answering all these questions! What kind of pill are you taking?

This is an incredible deal Mike, it should cost over £600 if you added the extras to the very cheap £327 laptop listed a few days ago. To get it at this price is a steal.

Let's take the £327 laptop, upgrade the cpu to this one (TL56) would cost £82, the 1GB RAM upgrade is £111 and the printer is at least £60 to £70.

It doesn't take a genius to work out that this is a fantastic deal.

I'm afraid I could wait no longer and jumped in and ordered one this morning.

I'm quite happy to answer most questions, though the cat has quite a few bruises where I keep kicking it:giggle: Its going to get harder for me to answer all the questions for the next few weeks as Dell introduce all the new product lines into their laptop range though as I will need to go find the info before I can give it!

Davelfc, you just couldnt hold out any longer could you ;-) You will be pleased with that I think.

Of course it will drop in price, everything that depreciates will drop in price :)
sorry, just couldnt resist..... :)

So I started to wonder if I should wait until the new systems come out at the end of the month. Anyway I phoned Dell and told them I wanted to cancel the order. They offered me £35 off the total price of £410and that just seemed too good an offer to refuse so I accepted.

If the quidco goes through at £16 then this will cost me £359 which is an absolute bargain really.

One last thing, does anyone know what model the 926 is based on, I mean is it a rebadged Epson etc? It will just make it easier to get inks for, or is a Dell specific model.

Generally Dell printers are rebadged Lexmarks, and they have slightly different carts so ink is a real PITA ! Not cheap :-(

Thanks, so another Dell printer heads out towards ebay then. This laptop will end up incredibly cheap.

hmm, im still here waiting for the right deal!..scratching.....my head!
i heard the date for the newly released products will be 26th of June...8 days time, sadly Mike i have a few more questions for you ha! (sorry mate)

Que1. Is this a confirmed release date?.. i don't want to wait more than two weeks to make a purchase on my laptop.

Que2. The new laptop(Inspiron 1720) to be exact, this is of particular interest to me..however, any idea of the prices? they won't be as affordable as the current Insiron range no doubt.

Ques3. Will you buy me an Inspiron 1720, please.

Thanks bud.

Cant be sure, though I doubt all the range will be released here in one day. As we have lost the 640M and soon the XPS1210 I would guess those will come first. Some of the 6400 are no longer orderable either.

Have no clue at all on pricing, you will just have to wait and see ;-)

No, next......

See, if I did work for dell I could have answered all those questions and given you a demo 1720 ;-)

If someone here did actually work for Dell then they would receive alot of commision.....

Hi Mike,

Just out of curiosity, is there a code to get this offer with XP instead of Vista?

This looks a fantastic offer and I can get hold of a PCMCIA firewire card for £18 to fit this!

No code for xp on this ecode and it has an Express card slot
Please note that this system has a ExpressCard slot and support the ExpressCard format only. This system does not have a PCMCIA card slot.

Did you manage to get vista home premium then? Did you ask on a phone order or is there a way of requesting this when ordering online?

Cheers, John
#36
Thanks Mike for that, i'm glad I asked the question.

Can get a firewire400 for about £20ish or 800 for £50ish. The father-in-law can choose what speed he wants.

I might take the road that Davelfc has taken and buy online and get the quidco and then phone them to see if they will change system to XP. If not then cancel and hope for money discount!

He really wants to get the Media Centre package for watching TV!

They should offer you the discount, it seems to be a standard move for people that attempt to cancel. I'm usually very unlucky in these things and if it was not going to work then it would not have worked for me.

Having said that I ordered that Sony earlier and now I have a good reaon to cancel, I won't though.

Mike:

would this be good for website design or would you reccomemend the other one around the £300 mark

I have a macbook for my internet banking and photoshop and a desktop for games and other "stuff".
[mod]#39
Sorry someone else will have to answer the website design question as I dont know whats involved fully.
The truelife screen is a case of you either love it or hate it! They do reflect everything like a mirror and working with lights behind you in an office might be a problem. Having said that I really like mine ;-) Try to see one before you commit if you can.
[mod]#40
sconie
Mike, am I right in saying that this 1501 does not have a truelife screen ?

I cant get dell uk to load atm as they have been having problems all day but I will stick my neck out and say that the truelife screen is not an option on any 1501 this week or last. Remember dell are getting ready to launch the new laptop range and wont want to get stuck will too much inventry so prob have removed that option to make it simpler on the line.
