Yes this is the same as the dell website apart from the hard drive size difference and that the tesco one includes an integrated webcam which is an extra on the dell website.
Good deal

Please help I know very little about laptops and have phoned Dell today about this one from Tesco . They told me it is old stock do you know if that is true? I want to buy it for our daughter.
#10
this is actually a very good deal. whoever said the specs are bad is an idiot because for this type of low end laptops the specs are excellent

poor spec if you ask me

Very surprised you said that!

What would you expect for £370 in a laptop?
#12
I can see where "Poor Spec" came from....

If I was purchasing a laptop i'd spend that extra £100 (on top of any) that would make my laptop last another 12 - 24 months.

This product is very much out of date already

It depends what you want... simple Office applications and internet will work fine. Anything more you'll be disappointed within 6 months

I don't really see where your coming from. Its a very good value laptop with a core2duo T5750, which is a farely new and decent processer. You could spend more and get a better laptop, especially if you want games or high end performance, but for the price this is a great deal.

I beg to differ, the spec on this machine is good.

The processor on this laptop is fast and core2duo
2gig of ram is ample
120gb is a bit weak - however I fix peoples laptops on a daily baisis and unless they download tonnes of movies they never use more than 20-60gb even 10,000 mp3's is only 40gb.
Battey is weak 3.5hrs, I would be looking something beefier but most people leave the laptop plugged in while they are using it..

I bought one of these of dell 2 weeks ago with the 160gb hd for £351 del and thought that was a good deal and the guy who owns it now loves it.

It's never going to do the lastest (or any really) big 3D games - but everything else will be like a dream. If this comes with vista, wipe it and install XP

You're having a laugh surely!

For this money, this is a very powerful laptop with the bonus of 3 hour battery life. You can run 'simple office applications and internet' on an old P2 laptop! This will storm through video editing, photoshopping, HD Video, programming, in fact anything you want a modern PC to do. It wont suddenly stop doing those things in six months, and I don't see any applications coming that will render this obsolete for a long time.

Gaming of course is a different kettle of fish but the X3100 is a big improvement for integrated graphics. It'll run the likes of FEAR, Far Cry or Unreal Tournament 2004 quite happily. If you wanted this for games then you'd be spending the purchase cost on a graphics card alone.

Oh, I'd keep Vista on it too. Far better security plus it runs very well on a Core2Duo.

As csiman says it was cheaper last week, I got it for £324. Quidco didn't track for me though. :-(

A laptop is up to date if you buy one every 6 months.

I dont see how the extra £100 would make a laptop last 12-24 months longer.

This is also not a poor spec by any means for £356...

Always use a different browser for quidco (I use IE solely for quidco).

Raise a query with quidco.

It's not bad spec, but there have been better Dell Deals.

My friend last month got 1525 2ghz, 3gb of RAM, 250GB and a three year warranty for £355.

good price, shame its £32 more than last week's offer.

Wish dell would include gigabit ethernet on all it's laptops, would cost them a few pennies more as gigabit routers are becoming cheaper and are standard in 802.11n draft routers, thats the only thing missing for me, we dont know the specs of the webcam either:( vga? 1.3mp? 2.0mp?

EDIT: price has gone up to £369 now.

link please, is that delivered and after quidco and codes etc?

As the tesco works out very cheap after £15 code, quidco and clubcard points.

I've always used firefox with quidco, this is the first time it hasn't tracked. I think it says on the quidco site that I have to wait a week before making a query, must set a reminder!

awesome price for a good spec laptop. with a 2ghz core 2 duo it will do just about anything you want it to (within reason and apart from games) and i think all inspiron laptops come with a HDMI port now? so it is future-proof aswell! with the money you save you could get an external hard drive, because trust me 120gb wont last long! i'm using 140gb out of 160gb on my laptop and i've only had it 7 months. hope this helps someone. excellent deal and voted hot

For an extra £23 you can get a Fujitsu with 160Gb and 3GB ram:

have you got a link for this one as this looks like a really good deal if its true

Would this be powerful enough to play HD Video such as .mkv files through the hdmi port to a LCD TV.
suspended#30
yes lukaz, if you install coreavc codec a 1.6ghz core2 can play 720p .mkv. I doubt this could play 1080p x264 smoothly though.
#31
Thx hajj_3 was hoping it would play 1080p
suspended#32
really dont know about 1080p, not sure if the cpu would be powerful enough, you would need a highly ventilated place for your laptop, on a desk will probably let the heat build up as 1080p would use 100% cpu. You should ask on dell forums really.
#33
I paid the same for my 2.1ghz C2D (new Penryn chip) 3gb ram, 250gb HDD, BT & mouse, Cam - but that was a one off! lol. Oh it's Vista Pro
#34
lukaz
Thx hajj_3 was hoping it would play 1080p

No, it WILL play 1080p MKV just fine assuming the bitrate isn't excessive. Most 'acquired content' will be fine, probably around 60 to 70% cpu.
#35
It will play 1080p mkv no problems with mpc, my older vaio T5500 plays them at about 65% cpu usage.. good deal, but the acer 5920's are better value if you can find one for about £379, T8300 2gig, 250gig hd etc..
