Good price considering it has Blu-Ray on it. I bought one of these for the wife without the Blu-Ray but has 3 Gb ram for that price 6 months ago and have been well impressed with it. Still getting over 3 hours out of the battery.

This one does not have the 160 Gb Free Fall HDD, it only has the standard HDD.
May be worth upgrading the RAM yourself and keeping the benefit of the Free Fall Drive??

Excellent deal for the money

The previous deal included the slower 5,400 rpm hard drive, so is even better value with the 10% discount code! [the faster drive is worth another £20 extra]

You definately want to keep the 160GB Free Fall drive - but not because of the Free Fall.
It's a 7200rpm drive - much quicker than the other one's 5400 unit !

Bog standard laptop with a blu-ray writer - big deal!

Blue ray writeable disks still way expensive for what they are!

Cold from me.

There are better laptops (more expensive) out there if you want it for gaming.
However runescape should run OK.

System requirements

Low Detail: 128 MB RAM, 500 MHz CPU
High Detail: 256 MB RAM, 1.5 GHz CPU, Nvidia GeForce3 or equivalent video card

Therefore this laptop will eat it alive!

What is the "Integrated Intel® Graphic Media Accelerator X3100" like?
Would prefer if I could upgrade this to a 256mb dedicated card
#22

Nayone know what software is pre loaded on this laptop to enable it to play blue rays?? As far as I have been able to tell I cannot find offical blu ray codecs available on the microsoft website, I would like to be able to play blu-rays via windows media player, just like I can DVD's.

They are not fantastic if you are wanting it for gaming.
But for everyday use and watching HD movies they are fine.

Take a look HERE for further details.

PowerDvd or an alternative is usually installed with Dell systems.

This will play bluray discs

Helloo,

I dont think there is any special discount of £250....

I can see on the website directly that it is priced from £449 +....

Please go through this link

http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/inspnnb_1525?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs

They just manipulate the things and show the price high and tell us they are reducing that by £250....

Cheers....

yes, it's a shame you can't change it, as it would run HD video a lot better inc blu-ray if it had at least a HD 3470 card
#30
good price, thanks

must resist lol

If you do not require to play any sort of intensive games then this will be fine for HD playback, aero and anything else.

However if you do wish to play games and want to on a laptop then you should get another laptop with a dedicated card. Something like a 8600m GT however the laptop's that contain these type of cards are often expensive as mentioned previously.

If you get this with the hope of playing games you will be kicking yourself later, however it is a good deal for what you get.

Actually... because hard drive sizes are so big these days, and all the information is packed so densely experts reckon that having more space actually speeds up the drives performance more than the rpm speed. So given the choice between a 5400 of larger capacity and a 7200 with smaller, you are better off getting the 5400. Obviously if both are the same capacity then 7200 is faster.

Thanks bazza88, tough decision! my son's only 9 but getting into various
games so it might be better to shop around a bit .

buffering/streaming is more to do with internet connection speed i believe

This is a slightly different spec. And I thought combined with the fact that it has the additional 10% discount in the Original Post, that it was worth a post of its own.
