Nice price...I have this laptop in blue (but with smaller hard disk) and am very pleased with it. Paid £429.99 from dixons online (with £10 voucher). Wirelss works well, MS Works included and webcam was a surprise bonus.

Always worth keeping an eye on dixons.co.uk for Dells also as they often have the different colours in stock and give 4% quidco and 2.5% cashback on Egg card. Mine was in stock and delivered in 2 days.

you're better off watching the dell outlet site instead, i picked up a 1525 with exact same spec but with a 250gb hdd for £56 delivered, yes fifty six pounds brand new
#3
Tried it but there was nothing of any value at all when I went on there. Really happy with mine but £56 is an amazing price
#4
I have this but the new penryn 2.4gz chip and 250gb hdd, It was £359 this summer, hoho with built in bt card.... the deal was pulled after a few hours. This is good!
#5
Oh yes, mine has 3 years warantee, I forgot, lol. The keyboard stopped working so they replaced it the next day!
#6
Good deal shame about the graphics card though.
#7
When is the best time of day/week/month to check Dell Outlet to get a deal like £56??
#8
Good price, heated.
#9
Pretty good price, although the spec is now officially "old".

The screen upgrade to 1440x900 is well worth £40 if you do go for it.

Good deal shame about the graphics card though.

Would this graphics card be able to play all the sims 2 games and similar games like zoo tycoon 2.

Thanks.
#11
I would think it could play the Sims and Zoo Tycoon fine.
#12
Wish it had a good graphics card!
#13
Not too bad really, but when the £50 off deal was about around October time, I got a Studio 17 with 2.0GHz C2D, ATI 256MB 3650, 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD, 2.0MP Webcam etc for £499 delivered, with a free colour upgrade (the Red is ace).

Seeing as RAM is dead cheap and there is space for a second 2.5" drive inside the Studio 17, it is the only reason I didn't plump for the Inspiron 15 really, as the 17 would mean great storage at little extra cost compared to what Dell demand for upgrading the hard drive!

With a claim like that you'd be better believed if you posted proof! PDF maybe?

I would like to know this too. I am also looking at possibly getting this Sony Viao as it has gone down to £430

http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/-/654/861/-/7747080/Sony-VAIO-NS10-L-S-Pentium-Dual-Core-T3200-2-0-GHz-3GB-250GB-DVD-SM-15-4-Vista-Home-Premium-Laptop-Notebook/Product.html?searchtype=genre

I am thinking about getting the Sony one, but this dell one has got me tempted. I dont know much about the graphics cards but people are saying the one with the dell is rubbish, i wondered if the sony one is better. Plus are sony meant to be a better brand of laptops than dell?

Please help!!

Cheers.

The best time undoubtedly will be " the 12th of Never, and that's along, long time.." to paraphrase the old song.....and in collusion with a blue moon........

ianparsons...not aimed at you, mate....but until mahjaar posts proof of his claim.......I wouldn't hold your breath!;-)

Guess it depends on what you want to use it for, Games machines ...desktops are better value for money...as a Laptop / portable device...I would go for the faster processor/ bigger HD rather than graphics card. Rough rule of thumb would be higher the number faster, more future proof the device. So the Dell would win it for me.

Does the 5% Voucher code still work too? x
#22

On what criteria?

Unless I'm missing something, it's got a marginally better CPU than the HP and costs £50 more...?
#23
how are you getting it for this price? the cheapest i can get this for is over £500
#24
X3100 graphics for over £400. Na....... I would wait until after christmas for the sales.

£28.00 is a bloody cheek though to have a different colour than black. Does anybody know how to get this colour for free but keep the £70.00 discount as well. Oh and while you are at it, does anybody know how to get free delivery??

Do people really think that more deals will be posted up after christmas? My computer keeps crashing on me and I could really ddo with a new laptop ASAP however if I know I will get a better deal in a few weeks then I can just try and make do....

The man has innocence until proven. I suspect he meant £55 off under the current deal for Dell Outlet.

Do laptops support dual channel memory mode?

If they do, I thought it would drop to single channel mode when different sized memory modules are fitted. But will still gain more benefit by having the extra memory running in single channel mode.

to the doubters, what would you like as proof, short of inviting you round to my house and logging into my internet banking to laugh at my forever growing creditcard statement

ive not been on the outlet site in ages, but on 21st Nov there was a thread about some sub £200 laptops on the outlet and people were recommending to keep clicking refresh, the doubters were out in force again but i had a look and at about 20:45

Well only if you must have a blu-ray player and want a 17" screen. But not a bad price just not keen an the Aspire range as it poorly built. A bit like old Alfa's, the spec sheet looks good but you know it will fall to pieces!

I disagree with this, too.

My aspire's built just fine, ta...certainly comparable with dell efforts of around the same spec/time - and better looking to boot.

Thanks for your opinion guys. This is to replace an Acer laptop and to be honest its lasted me well for 3 years. Dont want it to last forever or there is no excuse to the wife for getting a new one
