read the specs again

also this is a very good deal cause a lower spec 1545 is in pcworld for the same price.

I was thinking of getting a similar spec laptop from the outlet today.

Is this better than the studio 1555?

I'm guessing you'd be shelling out £499 for the studio - this deal has the better processor and same 4GB memory, but for your extra £100 quid you're getting a slightly larger hard drive, better graphics, longer lasting battery and avoiding the glossy finish some find anoying on the inspiron. If you've aready got an external hard drive, webcam, are not into games and don't move too far from the mains this might be the deal for you. If you can get the studio for £399 go for that.

Sister bought one of this a couple of months ago. It has few additional connections compared to the basic laptop. It has HDMI and SATA USB connection. Did not know this when we ordered. Too high a spec for her use. One thing i do hate is the DVD slot, feels cheap and fiddly to use. The inspirion uses a tray DVD version.

Hi all,
seems like a good deal and i've recommended this to a friend to buy.

It is "Windows 7 upgrade eligible" according to the Dell site. I've just spoken to someone at Dell to explain this - it is a free upgrade but you'll have to pay £15 delivery charge to get the disk.

From Dell: "First initially you need to register online then after few weeks the windows 7 be delivered in few weeks and with an delivery change of £ 15"

hope that's useful to others considering this laptop.

Managed to get this for £324 with a webcam in the outlet last week. Should be delivered on Wednesday.

Typical - built one on Saturday for exactly the same price... with a 6 cell battery (yay), and siginificantly worse processor (boo). Although I severely doubt it's actually in production, it's marked as such, and knowing how good Dell are at cancelling (i.e. not a chance - returns only), looks like I'm stuck with the worse deal.

If it aint in the post you should have no problems cancelling - even if it is refuse delivery.

This is the same spec that was a misprice for a couple of hours last thursday morning.... Would have loved to have seen how hot that could have got had Dell not noticed.

That seems like an OK spec - dedicated graphics card -
If you prefer an intel chip for a laptop the Dell above is a good deal or try

Offer has been extended to 9th September. Just thought I'd let you guys know.

I ordered one of these (upgraded to the webcam) on the 31st. Delivery seems to be estimated at the 15th of sept. I've ordered dell business machines before which turn up within 5 days. Do consumer orders really take 2 weeks?

Also there appears to be a TV offer, of £399, with a bigger battery, larger harddrive, webcam and the processor is a dual core. Is this better or worse than the machine i purchased? I'm assuming the processor is the slower.
