This specification was £399 recently - you can now get the faster T4300 2.1GHz processor with extra RAM and hard drive for the same price as the base model with T3000 1.8GHz processor. I recommend you add £5 for the 6-cell battery and £10 for the LED screen.

Also check out e-value code N0054505 for £399 which includes the LED screen, 6-cell battery, 4GB ram and 500GB hard drive (enter the code on the Dell website search box):

good price, but I'd rather go for the studio model ;-)

Good Price and spec. I've been looking around for a few weeks. Dell seem to constantly change spec every few days. Was looking at base model for around same price. This is a slight improvement and also includes a web cam which base does not.

Somethine about £100 cheaper and im in! Looking for a laptop at around £250!

Still head added for a great find.

We use Dell Laptops and they have proved to be good workhorses for us, We are now using Windows 7 and think its much much more stable than Vista (using the 64 Bit Version)
pretty good deal for a good spec machine with Win 7

£5 for the bigger heavier battery or £10 for the more efficient screen?

Choose both options.

Dell has great warranty service, too, but I'm really disappointed to see that they stopped offering the 4-year warranties. I have been looking at these for months, thinking I might get one around Christmas when there may be good deals around. And in the last month they've dropped down to only offering a 3-year warranty instead of the 4-year! Very disappointing; wish I would've just bought one a month ago. These Dells are bad about having the part where you plug the power cord break off -- and it's attached to the motherboard, so you have to replace that if it goes. That happened to both of our last dell laptops -- and a pc repair guy told us it was a common problem with dells -- but we liked enough other options that dell offered that other companies didn't that we bought the hubby another one. Remains to be seen what I'll get; I was sure it would be this exact model, not certain now.
#11
Annoying you can't upgrade to Windows Professional... Obviously there are good deals now and then, but Dell can be pretty frustrating having umpteen different ways to approach each machine, some of which have processor / screen / OS etc locked.
#12
Is it worth paying the extra for the advanced graphics?
#13
nice price for all the specs
#14
I want to buy 2 of these I don't suppose anybody knows of any discount codes I could use ? !

My Dell came with a partition of the hard drive which contained the files needed to restore the laptop to its initial state. On boot you need to press a specific key combination to activate this process.

I'd prefer a DVD. It seems a bit cheap not to include one when you're spending hundreds on a laptop.

I just ordered one of these on Wed, though I was getting a deal, it was the base model at £329 but I paid extra £40 for pentium processor rather than celeron, if I'd waited I could have got this, exactly same for £20 less and a webcam.
#18
Dont forget 4% quidco!
#19
Hmm, im getting a celeron dual core for 350, not seeing the option for pentium dual at 350. Expired?
#20
I'm tempted by this because I've been looking for a while. Only problem is I think I should maybe get something with an HDMI output and maybe even DDR3 memory. Otherwise it seems to tick all boxes!

you experienced a FAIL. Why not cancel and reorder. Dont accept the delivery if its on its way.

Can I do this, just checked and it's 'in production' stage, they have also taken the money from my account, suppose it's only £20 cheaper and I don't need a webcam (but I would have had one if it was free), was really pleased with myself aswell, though it was a good deal, ordered late on Wed night as that offer was finishing that night, should have waited.

That looks good. Similar spec but includes HDMI and Wireless N. Webcam isn't as good though.

No click on the link provided - it is still valid.

The AMD processor is slower than the Intel Celeron T3000 1.8GHz processor - it will also run hotter and have reduced battery life so I don't think it is that good given the higher price. For processor comparisons click here:

Not bothered about the webcam spec, already own a Tosh lappy, very good build, so just wanting opinions really

Good deal for basic laptop. Having to add £45 for graphics card is no good for me.

I'm still on the lookout for a good Dell Outlet Studio 1555 that's not Flamingo Pink!

Why do you use for gaming? Maybe I should have upgraded the graphics card? To late to change now?

The ones that expire quickly tend to be the mis-prices - this is just a good deal but yes I would not be surprised that it expires shortly as it does seem to be a much better deal than the standard ones listed on the Dell website.

I'm thinking the same -I want HDMI to be able to connect to my TV for occasional playback of downloaded iplayer HD programs.
#39
The studio has higher resolution display options and faster graphics card options - more suitable for gamers and photographic work. The Inspiron is the mainstream "budget" model.
#40
By the way Currys have this model in stock for £399 though it does include some coloured lid options such as Cherry Red for the same price - so if you were going to pay for the colour upgrade it is only £22 more expensive and you won't have to wait for delivery.
