This looks good, im looking for a laptop around £350. Anyone else know how good this laptop really is?

Also will this machine be able to play sims 3?

My friend's daughter has the 32-bit windows version of this laptop and it plays sims3 with no problem at all. Good laptop.

Thank you, but Even with the standard Intel Integrated GMA 4500MHD?

This looks like a really god deal i think but would like other peoples opinions really, there is so much choice out there i want the best deal i can for about £350 for university laptop, but likely to want to play some games like sims 3 and football manager 2010, anyone know if this is likely to work on it too?

Yes, even with the onboard graphics.

check out this link http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Graphics-Media-Accelerator-4500MHD-GMA-X4500MHD.9883.0.html
- at the bottom it shows you could run sims 3 at low detail and get a perfectly playable 41fps - there is a upgrade available on the graphics card for 45 quid which would allow you to play it at higher detail levels if SIMS 3 is a must !

might be better to add £15 for a 6 cell battery

Im looking to buy a new laptop for work (im self employed).
I need to be able to install Sage 50 & Iris Accounts software - will I be able to put them on a notebook?

Thanks!

My IT dept tells me Windows Vista 64 bit causes lots of problems. It's also less compatible with software you might use regularely. Check this out before you buy.

Worth looking at the dell outlet first for comparable spec models
I (and several other forum members) have bought 'sctatch & dent' laptops from the outlet and they are like new, with no marks/damage etc.
Significant cost savings to be had

but this also is eligible for windows 7 upgrade and there are no offers at the moment on dell outlet

Its showing as £398.99 for me?
#12
I took this to basket - couldn't find a way to get it cheaper than £398. Included minimum warranty. Any ideas?

Also, if I went for the 6 cell battery, how much battery time should I expect from a full charge for simple web browsing - ball park figure? Anybody know?
#13
looks good, I was after a similar spec and it was around £400 on there last time I looked.

I was thinking about this, are there other issues with 64 bit? Also what will happen when its upgraded to Windows 7?

Would you upgrade to C2D 2.13ghz for £9.99?

64Bit is grand, most applications have support for it now or can be emulated over. Its only if you use some old software that is not being developed further where you may find a problem. Windows7 is fantastic, its basically (from using it personally) the speed of XP with the looks and feel of vista. W7 is what I believe Vista should have been.

£398 for me?????

Cheapest i can get is £398 too.

Is there a hidden coupon that MikeT is using?

Some are. Bought 2 1545's from the outlet last week. One has registered fine for the update, the other wont.

May have been a VAT pricing error? Price is now £346+vat = £398.99

Fair enough if there are no offers at the moment (I hadn't looked)

Outlet laptops are eligable for a Windows 7 upgrades thou (provided it is one with Vista home premium etc.). I've already registered mine for it. :)

Yes, I know this deal has now expired but I had a nightmare with a 64 bit OS on a HP laptop.

Canon printer drivers diddnt work, silly little things diddnt work. It was almost like buying a mac lol.

The 2.13 CPU has a faster FSB (Front Side Bus - 1066 instead of 800).
The 2.13Ghz CPU will be faster than the 2.2Ghz for pretty much everything

:xYes it was a dell error, they fixed it now so game over
