If the Quidco works along with the Coupon code, it will be good price.

Lenovo deal yesterday is a lot better than this. £50 more for an i5 which is a big difference.

Think the Lenovo one was a 32bit software only - hence a max 3gb. This one's mem can be upgraded a lot more.

I'm sure you could upgrade the Lenovo to 64bit free of charge. Don't quote me on that tho, it was early this morning when I looked, I may have been on the wrong thing :)

Very very few people would actually benefit from more than 3.5gb anyway. It's not like anybody would be doing anything that intensive on what is effectively a budget 15.6" laptop.

This is a funny place. Good deals are sometimes ignored and £30 off a £429 laptop becomes hot X)

Nice budget machine at a keen price. I like the cpu and connectivity (e.g. hdmi and combined usb/esata port). Looking at the data sheet, it's a well balanced specification. The normal limitations for keen gamers still applies of course but no real weaknesses. Got to be a good deal at this price. Heat added.

i thought i3 had only one CPU, so that gives you only 2 thread with hyperthreading on. i5 has 2 cores = 4 threads. i7 has 4 cores = 8 threads.

For this price i would try and find one with i5.

lenovo was definately a much better laptop for the extra £50 (is about £30 extra if you take into account quidco) and you could swap the 32bit to 64bit for no extra charge. not a bad price mind

Both i3 and i5 have 2 cores and each core has threads; i5 has turbo boost so if a core isn't fully used the mhz on the other can be boosted for improved performance.

In the case of the Lenovo thinkpad edge deal mentioned it is an i5-460 which would boost to 2800mhz.
For around £50 difference the lenovo is very good value in my opinion, faster CPU, dedicated graphics; if you aren't interested in performance or gaming then there are £300 computers that would suit just as well as this.

I bought this last Saturday from Argos for £499. Do you think they'd accept it back if I said it didn't work?!

Ouch! Worth a go and you may have to make a bit of a stink about getting a refund. Bear in mind that you will basically be commiting moral fraud. I treat others like l wish to be treated myself so i wouldnt do it. I'd try their customer services for some form of refund or credit . If the answer was no, i'd learn the lesson to do my research next time. Been plenty of similar spec laptop deals around HUKD for weeks now.

I am returning it, rightly or wrongly morally. £100 is a lot of money.
