The op hasn`t mentioned blu ray drive, strangely it is on the dell site, but not in the basket when you get to checkout!

Blu Ray drive is an option at £99.99, according to the specs. Can't see that it has a HDMI port either.

Very tempted by this with an upgraded processor P7350, still just under £500. BUT have read somewhere that if you upgrade to windows 7 might run slower than if bought with it preinstalled (after sep 1st). Is this true? what happens if i want to format the laptop after a year, and only have the vista disk, surely ill be stuck with it and have to pay to upgrade? very good spec laptop for the price though.

also, is ddr3 much better??? as this one is ddr2, and is the screen gloss??? sorry, id look more myself, but its taken me weeks of research just to learn what some of the basics mean.

Here is the one with the blu ray, is this a different machine, http://www1.euro.dell.com/uk/en/home/days_of_deals/fs.aspx?refid=days_of_deals&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1.

Nice idea. Upgrading to Windows 7 shouldn't run any slower than the Vista it comes installed as, from experience, Windows 7 is better optimized than Vista and runs a bit faster. I think they just send you the 7 upgrade disc so just get it anyway and if you don't fancy upgrading straight away, you don't have to.

I don't know about it running slower, but when they give you the free upgrade to win 7, wouldn't they send that on a disk? And I thought it was coming out in late October, not Sept?

This is a tempting offer, but I'm trying to hold off a few more months. Not least of all because I want my next computer pre-loaded with Win 7 for convenience, but also to get the most use out of my old one for now.

This is not working for me, the voucher says min spend is £679 and the CPU upgrade looks like it is £80. What am I doing wrong?

Yes, £679 and then £569.05 after the code. Don't see how to get it any lower.

I wonder if deals like this or better will be available around Christmas? I'm trying to wait until then and keep telling myself there are bound to be similar or better deals, and I'd get it with win 7 pre-loaded!

Just tried to purchase this one. It is clearly advertised with the blu ray drive claiming savings of £180. However, when you go through to the basket - you've been hit with another £99 on the bill. Been on to Dell Customer Service (online chat) who at first claimed they could not see the blu ray option on their screen. Then insisted it would cost another £99 even though it was shown on the add. When I told them that I just wanted to buy the spec that was advertised at the advertised price, they would just tell me to call customer service and end the session. CS is closed. This happened twice.

Not sure I want one now if thats the way they treat people. Have I got it wrong?

Hello be gentle new to this

Looking for a laptop to replace PC and run 2 (very sad) games - John Tiller Campaign Series and Empire Total War so will need a separate graphics card. Also need it for all the normal stuff microsoft office, wifi connection, etc etc

will this be a good un to get? If not any suggestions would be gratefully received

Great! This should be ideal for my son when he starts uni next month. We didn't act quick enough to beat the £20 increase (grrrrr) but I'm more than happy that I managed to get 4 years for the price of 3 on the extended warranty.

They've obviously messed up advertising blueray on the advert. Neither of us cared about having that functionality but I've taken a screen copy anyhow to perhaps try and get them to knock a few quid off.
