Dell inspiron 3000 desktop £249.00 @ Dell

This dell is not top of the range, and no i3, i5, or i7 but at £249 with a 1tb HD, windows 8.1, touch screen monitor, and a pentium running at 3.1 ghz that's a lot of bang for your buck !!! Comes with 4gb of ram to!! Bung a few more in and a decent graphics card and this is a very respectable machine !!

I3 or i5 these days, I7's are waste of money you don't need it. An i5 build and overclocked will hammer a i7 easily :)

Taken from the Dell site as one of the options:
Dell KB 113 USB Entry Keyboard - UK (QWERTZ)
Erm, aren't UK keyboards Qwerty?

This is a good price for a very basic desktop, especially as it comes with a touchscreen monitor.

Where, the link takes me to the home page and it's £309 before VAT and shipping, and it doesn't come with a monitor at all, let alone a touchscreen one.

if you go down to 'monitor - choose options' it says that a 19.5" touch monitor is included in the price

This would be fine the average PC user, the Pentium is a Haswell based CPU (so it's a slimmed down i3 more or less)

I'd avoid the cheaper Celeron desktop at £199 as it uses the Atom Bay Trail Celeron but that's my opinion only.

Also look at Dell Outlet (Home) because earlier this week they've had a number of desktops from about £200 delivered/inc vat with very similar specs to this deal and some i3 for about £250 delivered and a few i5 desktops for under £300 delivered and inc VAT. Also some XPS8700 with i7's for about £400 ish

Keep dreaming what about when you overclock a i7 then? You would be mad to pick a i5 for video editing its good for games now but newer games showing the i7 is much better.

Going by the pricing I think it's a typo. Maybe ordered and argue the odds with them hehe.

It mentions only desktop on the main page.

Voted hot on the chance.

I notice that the other touch monitor options are labelled multi-touch, so I guess the 19.5" model doesn't support as many fingers (!) as the others.

~300 quid with a 24" non touch U2412M monitor sounds like a good deal to me. hot hot.

Called them up and ordered. To start with they said it's just the base unit, but after I got him to read and he checked, he confirmed that it comes with wired mouse and keyboard and a touchscreen monitor.

Just go to the deals section, then desktop deals, and it's the first one at £249. It has £50 off and free delivery, that is why it's £249

This is an excellent deal! Great find OP. Heat.

Looks like a great system for the money.
Especially when you account for the 19.5" Monitor at screen resolution of 1600x900, keyboard and mouse which alone would set you back at least £100, Then a Windows 8.1 license that retails for circa £80, So the base you're getting for £70 effectively.

RAM-wise, i run a very high spec gaming system with 8GB of DDR3 RAM and have no issues at all, so for your average home entertainment system at this price you're getting a pretty good deal... In my opinion :)

Have some heat OP! :D

The monitor is good and hard to find for under £200 new even on eBay so you are getting the base system for ~£90.

Thanks OP good find

You're thinking Netburst Pentium, well actually you're not thinking let's be honest here.

According to the manual, up to 16gb but there are only 2 slots. Another 4gb or 2gb stick in this might be of some benefit but no point having any more.
#23
what power supply has it got?
#24
any similar deals below £300 with an i3 or (preferably) i5 processor? thanks.

heat added anyway.

Not if you're looking for a touchscreen desktop based system with those CPUs.

Hi there, I am going to uni in september and need to get a computer to have at home. I am 31 and dont really know much about computets :/ would this be okay for a radiography student? Do unis use windows 8 lol? Or would I be better to spend a bit more on something else? Thankyou x
#27
Great deal - though I would shove a little SSD into it as the boot drive to make it work properly. As it's dell unlike most you always have the option to downgrade to 7 64 bit for free until 9 comes out it's easily done if you know what you're doing ;)

What would you be using it for though? Unless you are doing something intensive like processing/editing videos, photos and playing games you should be fine.

Uni's will be looking into implementing windows 8 but I'm sure the vast majority will be using Windows 7 and even XP. However, you should be fine using 8 as a lot of people will use OS X so there will be options for everyone to be able to do their work properly.

This should be way hotter imho, especially when you take into account that you can get the Dell U2412M (1920x1200) monitor for just £48 more.

HOT. HOT. HOT. 8)

I ordered last night and monitor is listed in the parts breakdown. if it doesn't arrive I'll be calling them.

I suspect it's a typo as the image doesn't show the desktop next to a monitor like they usually do but it clearly states the monitor is included and they offer monitor upgrades.

It's been dispatched, 2 boxes, 1 base unit and leads (keyboard mouse), 1 monitor. I'll post pic when it arrives.

If you look at the other photos the monitor is included (the pic at the top of this thread)

Whats the monitor worth on its own.

do you think i would be good with a r9 280 and another 4gb stick would make a good gaming build? cheers in advance
