This looks like a really good deal to me so voted hot, but the lack of reaction to it worries me :?
Is there anything better around at the moment for the price? I have an budget of £390 max.
#2
Voted hot, good spec and good price
#3
yes a nice deal voted hot.
you could upgrade the processor to the 5600+(19.99) and add the 500gb hard drive(£9.99)and for £309 all in its a very nice base unit..

Maybe we are getting a bit blase about PC prices . We now expect fantastic bargains.
#6
Yes - it's not for me and the £390 was pushing the previous £350...ish up bit :)

Forgot to mention, I have to get a monitor out of that too.
#7
Thanks :)
#8
you will see more of these from dell as they shift the AMD stock

You would struggle to build a computer yourself with these components for this price. Just last week bought similar spec. components from ebuyer and cost about this price without the software.

whats the difference between AMD Athlon and the Live Technology version???? and is it worth upgrading the memory? if so, how much?? thanks!! :?
#11
how does this compare to an intel processor? is the AMD more reliable?

not sure about live technology maybe google it to find out:thumbsup:

as for memory with dell its usually overpriced so most people buy from somewhere else later as its simple to fit it yourself:)

Nice deal, voted hot.
Tempted to buy myself but not sure what these AMD Dualcore are like, any owners?
Need to convince the mum she needs a newer computer first, so i can shift mine onto her and justify a purchase :p
#14
Purchased a Dell AMD dual core just before christmas and very impressed with it. Used to run a decent P4 and this is miles faster and lacks the annoying hangtime.

There are links on my blog to compare cpu's.

This AMD compares to around the Core 2 duo E6400 2.13Ghz or maybe a bit faster depending on what application.

Anyone know if the GFX card is VGA or Express (and if VGA whether the mobo has a PCI-e GFX slot?)

Thanks

The graphics slot is 16x PCIe and that card will be in it.
#18
Could anyone suggest a similar spec computer which is quiet or silent while using. Looking to update to a new model as mine is pretty loud.
Thanks.

Thanks for the clarity.

This worked in quite well for me. My Acer jacked in JUST inside warranty which has been refunded in full.

So I've gone for this with additional £10 to upgrade to 500GB HDD and then added a 8600GT GFX with tremendous reviews http://www.scan.co.uk/products/productinfo.asp?WebProductID=576201 and another 2 gig of RAM http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=291363, again excellent reviews.

All this for less than £370 (less when taking into consideration quidco)! Given that this comes in at less than the refund on my Acer (which was voted hot hot hot on here last year), to say I'm as happy as a pig in poo would be an understatement.

Cheers Mike for another great spot.

You can get the upgrade to 5600 from 5000 for only £20, is that worth it, and what is the difference between the Live! and non Live! versions?
#24
nice deal and even better with 10% off:thumbsup:

just ordered with the

5600+ processor(19.99) and 500gb hd(£10)

it still came too £279 all in thanks to the 10% voucher so im glad i waited and hopefully some quidco off aswel:)
#25
Gone for this after a bit of thought - good price with the xtra discount :)

Voted HOT!!!!
#26
Thanks alot for the 10% discount code.... just ordered one for my cousin with a 19 inch monitor, speakers and wireless pci card for £368 less quidco if that tracks. Great Deal....voted HOT!
#27
Free delivery, loads of discounts, the whole thing came to £260 inc a 500gb hdd but no monitor... I'm delighted. Got my son one of these last year and it is fast powerful and practically silent. Our kitchen PC is a cranky old piece of **** (which I built, ahem) and I'm looking forward to replacing it with a machine that doesn't fall over every other day...:)

This might be a better deal for some, if you sell the camera and power extension you could bag this for about £288 after quidco. It is a quad core and all.

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/151155/dell-vostro-400-desktop-base-quad-c/

I can't quite decide which one to purchase this or the quad core!

yep i had that decision to make ,in the end decided i would never use the benefits of a quad core which are minimal at the moment anyway so went for this one as its very quite and uses a bit less power.
a mid range base unit is fine for my needs :)

depends what you need as always and the quad deal is great value, most people like to go for the biggest and fastest even when they will never use it:roll:

received mine yesterday (quick delivery:))and have just set it up.

very pleased, nice and quite and plenty fast enough for me.

plenty of the usual dell bloatware installed but not difficult to remove most of it.

for a budget unit i was pleasantly surprised by the case which is very nice and has a touch of quality about it:.

all in all well worth £279 including my upgrades:thumbsup:
