Cheers Mike,

Would you recommend taking out a 3 year warranty, or just the 1 year? Is it worth the extra money?

Tricky one that is, if your going to maybe sell it on after 18 months then the extra remaining warranty is a good selling point. Dell also have a system where they get a 3rd party to phone you (still a dell warranty) at the end of the 1yr warranty to ask if you would like to extend it and in this situation you can sometimes get a good deal offered you though they dont always phone you!
Dell do have a system in place on the web site where you can apply later to extend a current warranty.
I normally go for 1yr as its cheapest  and if your home insurance covers laptops for accidental breakage you could be ok there for future years:pirate:

Battery option 9 Cell, 80Whr Lithium Ion Primary Battery [add £11.75] though I think it sticks out on this model which may not please some.

When I bought a PC from dell early this year I only took the standard 1 year warranty... And after about a 1/2 week laters of getting my PC being delivered I was offered to add a 3 year on-site warranty which cost much less if I had purchased it with my PC...

Same thing happened to me. Saved about £100 that way.

BTW I have a 640m and it's fantastic. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a light & portable but still powerful laptop.

can we cancel a dell order, once it is in pre-production? pre-production started on saturday 15:00 and order was places at 14:30 :( estimated delivery date is 10/10/06
[mod]#7
Yes you can, look for the phone number on your confirmation email, you can also email them but the phone will be sure to cancel it. They may offer you an incentive to still go through with the order.

Last day before Dell updates for this one
