I bought the single core version of this last week and I have to say that I'm impressed. Have had a couple of small issues and Dell customer services have been extremely helpful.

Just a couple of pointers that people may be interested in if buying this laptop.

1) I would go for the 9 cell battery (the battery life on this is fantastic - up to ~9 hours) it's only about £10 more. If you do use this battery, a part of it sticks out the back of the laptop. There are lots of pictures online of this (laptop review websites etc.), but its definitely worth considering.

2) Pay the extra £5 for the operating system disc then format the hard drive! It's full of a lot of trial versions of software and is pretty slow to boot up. Once formatted, the laptop booted up very quickly.

3) Be aware that the sound blaster audigy option is a SOFTWARE enhancement, NOT a hardware sound card. (It would therefore eat up processor power!). I got it without, and the sound quality is more than adequate.

4) I got my laptop with 1GB ram. I don't need dual core (although the single core option is no longer available) but I do tend to prefer a lot of ram. Probably cheaper to upgrade the ram yourself though (not sure how this affects warranty).

Anyway just thought I'd give you my opinions!

Enjoy

PS The truelife display option seems to be a matter of preference. I got the screen without truelife and I stick by my decision because a) my screen is non-reflective (truelife is reflective) and b) if this screen's resolution was any higher I wouldn't be able to see what I'm doing. About half the reviews online prefer truelife, the other half hate it!

Also forgot to mention this in the last post. I telephoned Dell to place the order and managed to haggle a free laptop case (they gave me the option of the case or £20 off). Definitely worth trying!

Nice first post Mark, welcome to HUKD :)

I agree with the battery but the fact it sticks out puts some off the upgrade.
As you say the ram can be added quite cheaply from Crucial uk and you can get a Quidco cashback and use a discount code to get it cheaper too.
It doesnt affect the warranty either.
Buying on line has also its advantage of using Quidco for a discount cashback.

Thanks for the info markwills and Welcome to HotUKDeals from me too :)

As Mike says, don't forget online through QuidCo you can earn 7% in cashback too [worth around £23].
