Very low spec, of what's given at least. Pentium D is very old. Would be ok for very limited tasks but it's old hat.

As long as its not this years software this should run loads of things easy. Iv only just stop using my old Sony Vaio which was a P4 and I think only 256 ram, which I could get to record 10 tracks of 24 bit audio simultaneous at times! PCs dont have to be lightening fast, just don't fill them up with loads of rubbish that will slow em down.

This is very good value for money.

Full format and re-install everything. Well, dont re-install everything just the things you want. The more you install the slower it will run. A good tip is to totaly disconnect from the net if your not using it and other programmes may run faster.

Most PCs seem fast enough when we buy them and also seem to get slower over time. But assuming you are not running increasingly demanding applications then there is no reason why they shouldn't be "fast" again with a clean operating system install.

Gamers will insist you need the latest spec to play the latest games, but if you use a PC for work, web browsing and emails, and the application software you use is pretty much the same year in year out then, you don't need the latest machine. So, for example, I use Microsoft Office 2003, Quickbooks, some simple 2D cad software, a bit of web editing software, some dtp, photo-editing, and that's about it. I have a couple of machines in my office that must be 5 years old now. If they get a bit creaky (so typically once every year to 18 months), I do a fresh install of the operating system. It takes about the same amount of time it would take me to drive to the shops and buy a new PC. But it doesn't cost a penny!

Plenty of help online like: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/operatingsystems/ss/instxpclean1.htm

Pentium Dual core is good processor. but old now. it will run almost everything you throw on it. including some games.
but these machines are power hungry and £190 is a lot of money for me to spend on a old machine like this one

I would personally buy Acer Revo like the one below. lovely machine and excellent value for money.

you may be able to get these cheaper as low as £150

You could say that about all processors; for this price you could get a nettop.

I bought an Inspiron desktop from Tesco yesterday, different spec to this one and only £87.37.
