Hi, whats the touch screen interface like on these, would be awesome if you could get android to dual boot on this with windows.
#2
Props to dell for having the balls to go ahead with the design, though I can't see them selling many at the current price.
#3
Touchscreen is actually brilliant on this, with multi-touch. I have been really suprised how well it works with Windows!

Dual boot is not possible at the moment with Android, but its coming, and very close. I personally cant wait.

Beware the bezel on this is large as there is the fake bezel on the frame that is attached to the laptop and the real bezel on the screen that flips within the frame.

Take a look at video reviews of this. I saw some from CES 2011 and thought it was a good idea the only down side was the size of the bezel not a deal breaker but I thought I'd point it out. Also the weight is the weight of a laptop not a tablet.

Good price new idea.

Good price but I was very disappointed with the one I used. It feels very cheap and nasty, its too big for a tablet, has a hard drive rather than flash and the software was appalling. It won't hold onto its value very well so I'd wait for the price to get lower, when it hits £200 its worth buying.

10 inch screen at THIS price ?
Touchscreen or not, colder than the streets outside.
#7
the weight of it and battery life is a bit of a let down,

Either way if you're looking to buy this it's the cheapest price out there so voted hot,

personally i'm still waiting on the lenovo u1 and hoping the price isn't too crazed
#8
does this one come with the dock?

Buy one now and it'll be broken before someone else gets the chance to buy one for £200...

Hot.
Though, I'd recommend waiting for a second generation of these, hopefully being slimmer & with SSD or Flash memory - I really, really like the design though.

nice, I like it

So many times I have wished I could do this exact thing with my mini9 ........ Now how can I justify adding this to my collection of 5 dell lappys of varying size and power :{

bought this the other day. I love it- yes its heavier than a tablet, and battery life is poor but touch screen windows is great. Got xbmc running- looks beautiful. Wont be for everyone- if you want a netbook- buy a netbook if you want a tablet- buy a tablet. If you cant afford both and want a portable machine that does pretty much everything the duo is great.
EDIT:
also: no, it doesn't come with the dock.

This is the 320Gb version so not only does it have 70Gb more storage it is a 7200rpm HDD. The 250Gb version is only 5400rpm. This will load and run noticeably faster than the standard 250Gb. If you buy the docking station for this it makes it considerably more powerful and more versatile than the iPad. It has a HD output so can be linked to any HD TV. Seriously considering one to use as a media centre 8)
#15
It should run Meego 1.1 which probably be better than the dell's interface.

Such an unusual design, I wonder if it will catch on.

Before I buy this I want to know where I can get the dock separately, and for how much? I think it looks great sat in the dock and would be a great media center.

I saw this on QVC a few weeks ago and thought of getting one myself untill I saw the bad feedback from this product on thier website. http://www.qvcuk.com/ukqic/qvcapp.aspx/view.2/app.detail/params.item.564539.cm_scid.BazaarVoice

It would appear some of the people buying off QVC were expecting a super fast quad core laptop and when the got a netbook were dissapointed. How exactly was this sold to them?

This is a high spec netbook, which converts to a useful multi touch Windows tablet pc. Its all relative

What is the processor on these things like for gaming? I'm only interested in playing Football Manager on it, would it be able to handle that?

Also, how does the SIM card slot work for mobile Internet usage? Would it be cheaper to buy a dongle for it or to buy a SIM card? What sort of card does it need?

I use it to play Football Manager 2011, no problem. The UK version does not currently come with a SIM card slot or a 3G modem. You can use a dongle no problem, anyone will work.
#24
Thanks for the info mate, that is very useful to know.

It said on the Dell website that it came with a SIM card slot though - unless I mis-read it?

And I presume there is no CD/DVD drive with it, what would you recommend?
#25
Also I've heard that the battery power is poor - only 3 - 3.5 hours is a bit of a deal breaker for me I think.........
#26
Yeah its an error on Dell website, dont no why they dont remove it. No optical drive, you will need to buy an external usb drive
