1.33ghz = slow old version. Look on dell outlet site for these cheaper. Even the newer faster version brand spanking new are only £250 with free vodafone broadband for 2 months and inbuilt wwan. Guess the only selling point of this deal is the warranty.
It has a HDMI connector, but on a mini, you are not going to be able to watch HD TV, it just would not have the processor power.

I would be interesting to know the comments of anyone who has got one of these on this. (I know they are good in other ways). For instance how would they cope with iplayer.

not always, sometimes the graphics chip is all that is needed for the power to playback hd content, for example in most hd media players (like the western digital tv) have 200-266mhz cpus for the os, but a sigma chip to playback hd media

im not familiar with this graphics chip so it might not apply here
GMA500 can accelerate HD, if you use the right codecs (and maybe need some driver fiddling, do some googling). Same as the Vaio P.

Might be wrong, but the newer model uses another graphics chip that doesn't.
wait until windows 7
My samsung NC10 plays 720p MKV files just fine :) however that has a 1.6 Ghz CPU
voted hot-this is £299 on dell site, even with their 'weekend offer'
Agree with the cpu info - sorry cold due to better machines for less (e.g. A150 for £200 at BT shop).
could someone tell me what model to be looking for with hdmi and 3g? is such a model available yet and at what price.

I am a newbie to the netbook world.
I have both the Mini 10 and 10v and the 10 is much slower and can't even play standard definition DVDs full screen whereas the 10v has no problems due to its faster clock speed and better drivers for the GMA 950 - the only advantage of the GMA500 Polubso chipset is that it is lower power. I would recommend getting a 10v from the outlet for under £200.

But that has included bluetooth (normally a £35 option) internal tv card (again normally a cost option) and the option of free WWAN card which normally costs £100 and is brand spanking new and not refurbed, plus has the faster processor.
Just as a side note, research on the acer 751 (with same 1.3ghz CPU) has led to a lot of people complaining about the speed, I tried one in a store and it struggled to load IE8. I would strongly recommend going for an Atom instead.
Set up properly, the GMA500 can play even 1080p files at low cpu, see here......

Will struggle horribly with flash though, until they get that accelerated (many months away for everyone).
I don't think some of you realise that because this is from the Dell Outlet (as in the description) not the actual Dell shop it will be refurbished. Always check the Dell Outlet first as it may be cheaper there. This model is also called the Inspiron 1010.

You can pick up this model on the Dell Outlet for £201.48 delivered with a 2 year warranty or £172.66 with 1 year warranty. The model with the better processor (1.6GHz) is also £172.66 on Dell Outlet delivered with 1 year warranty.
