seems pretty good, what rez is the screen does anyone know ?
for an extra 30 quid you can get the 1300x768 16:9 screen which might be worth a punt..

Thats a pretty good value for moeny upgrade, it used to be more than that I thought. Once added though its within spitting distance of the price of the Sony VAIO W, which other than no TV is the same spec.

shame about the 3 cell battery....other wise a good deal...

If these are gma500 Dell Mini 10 then the new flash 10.1 beta 3 now supports flash acceleration on them
The other Dell mini 10v uses the gma950 which doesn't support flash acceleration etc.

Using the gma500, HD movie playback is possible once using the latest driver (at least on windows 7)

Is the Z530 the chip with GPS built in?

Ami Missing something? this seems a bit pricey for what it is. There seems to be lower cost netbooks out these with similar spec/branding
it the processor that has lifted the base price, or is it the TV Tuner?

I know its probably apples and oranges comparing 2nd hand with new products but I recently sold my old vaio tx on ebay for £260, had 7 hour battery life, 1.2Ghz pentium ULV 60GB hard drive and a high res 11.1" screen. Not saying this is a bad deal, just that if you have a real keen eye and some time to spend looking you can find a decent sony ultra mobile for similar money. I consider the Sony's to be the best ultra portable out there, certainly not worth the premium they command new but if you can pick up a mint used one off ebay they are excellent value. As I said this is a hot deal, jsut making people aware of the alternatives. The sony's can be a pain to search for as they change the model numbers more often than a prem footballer changes his mistress, best to search ebay for vaoi and filter by screen size (11.1")

Be careful,
If it's the Mini 10, then it's no good for OSX. (I believe it is as it's using the Z530 atom)

The Mini 10v (Atom 230 + GMA950) is great for OSX.

It's the GMA500 Graphics Card (present on the Dell Mini 10, model 1010) which is incompatible with the Mac OS X - there was work still being done on it (based upon previous posts on various Hacintosh forums) but there's been no joy so far.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

As far as i know its still only the 10v which is 1011 on the dell system I think

Has the dell 10v been discontinued? Can't find it on Dell site. I know there site can be confusing and sometimes screws up.

6 Cell Battery £30 extra. Only just started looking at netbooks but cant see the deal here?

just a note, the Z530 is the Intel CPU and does not include GPS ;-) still a nice machine with the extra £30 spent on a 6cell!

Bought this last time it was on offer, think it was about £200 and included the tv tuner, hd screen upgrade, inbuilt 3g modem. Glad to hear they're sorting the flash video out, will have a look and see if that works on XP.

Nice machine but two problems (both of which are reported as being common).

1) the trackpad - the design needs some getting used to, but the big problem is that sometimes the trackpad will race towards the bottom left corner of the screen for no reason at all. Have turned off multitouch and tap to click so at an absolute loss with this one.

2) the machine emits a loud beep once every hour or so. No reason that we've found - it's not the battery, as it happens running on the mains too.

I got this too and its a great machine, just shame about the lack of OSX support. The higher res screen is really good and tried the HDMI when on holiday by just plugging into the back of a TV giving a great picture.

720p HD is fine, not tried 1080p yet and the 3g really helps when out and about. Not managed to get a lock with the GPS yet, I think the aerial must be a bit poor, it does not seem to use the phone signal to help it approximate like smartphones would (a-gps).

Not had the same problems on mine, just the naff battery life (approx 2.30 hour)

Does the 720p playback have any slowdowns? Also are these machines good for multitasking?

Thx for ur time
