Thay were cheaper last week (£149 ) with windows 7.

They must have realised they can get a bit more.
#3
Isn't it free delivery at the moment ?

Seems odd, last week 149.99 with 21 del. This week 160.00 with free del. . . hummm

Yeah, just checked, free delivery on now.
#4
Free shipping until 23rd January - will be £21 afterwards.

No, they put prices up when they give free delivery.
(ends up the same : 149 + 21 delivery = 169 + free delivery )

Basic Windows 7 v XP - with this processor etc, I think I'd take the XP.
#7
hot, but no win 7 at the moment, also no blu tooth... shame
#8
win 7 runs great on the wee dells - not noticed much speed difference between xp and win 7
#9
I received one today from the outlet which came with Win 7 Starter - it also came with Bluetooth even though that wasn't listed when I bought it.

That's a standard screen resolution size on most netbooks out there (the exception being the HP 2133 Mini-Note) - the only other netbooks with larger resolutions than that are the 11.6" netbooks that are on the go.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

Any ideas where you can get a reasonably priced 6 cell battery for these? Bought one for Xmas and have to say that battery life is not great from the 3 cell battery particularly when surfing the net. 2 hours best between charges.
#16
6 cells are around but they're v.expensive at the moment.

You could even get a 9 cell here

Hi, over the last month I was having problems accessing the Dell Outlet store - it just does not connect to the website when I click on 'shop now'. Has anyone been experiencing similar problem?

Cheers,
Tom

How wrong the Sony 10" has a 1366 x 768 resolution.

Find a deal for these and i'll be buying....

My HP2133 died this weeked. Still at £200 for two years isn't to bad. Wish I'd got that HP Ion that was on last week.

Anything less than £200 is good. Thats why netbooks are popular , not the size but the price.

If you ordered at the same time as I did last week then it said delivery normally within 10 days and it shipped after 7. what's wrong with that?

and it was £174.05 delivered for me last week.

Seems they have all gone for now

Thanks for that - to be honest I forgot about the Sony Netbook as it's not one I've actually seen in person but I have seen the mixed reviews on it.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

I picked one these up last week, it was free delivery then as well.
I managed to grab black one with a 16Gig SSD, Linux, bluetooth and 6 cell battery for 150+vat.
Though it did take a few attempts to get it in the basket as it kept getting grabbed.

It still hasn't arrived. So its not 7 days, I ordered it on the 12th Jan.

Still, the outlet ones shouldn't take this long to be delivered. It even said for a few days that it was "in production" < what are they producing? All they have to do is take it off the shelf!

EDIT - Tracking information is now appearing, says the "estimated delivery date is 25/01/2010", great.

so you ordered on the 12th and it shipped on the 19th? how many days is that from order to shipping? go back and read what i wrote...

not trying to defend them but when i ordered it said delivery normally within 10 days. hopefully the estimated delivery is wrong but it's hardly the end of the world if it takes 3 days longer than it said at the point you ordered, is it?

cant see why anyone would want a refurb Dell Crap PCs
expensive to maintain etc etc

can anyone convert me please ( that's not being sarcastic either)
#35
because it's not a pc? it's a netbook and all netbooks are very much the same.

A lot of members are jumping on them as they are ideal for running Mac OS X on them - they have the most compatible hardware within them (pretty much the same as the Dell Mini 9 Netbook), with only a minimal amount of changes to be done after the basic operating system is installed on them.

At the end of the day about 90% of the netbooks out there have the same basic hardware architecture in place on them but newer ones are coming out with different CPUs, screen sizes and graphics adapters being bundled with it.

If your just wanting a brand new netbook then you might want to consider the Compaq Mini 110c Netbook deal via the Carphone Warehouse - it was going for £179.00p and could be purchased instore (it's out of stock online) & it has pretty much the same hardware in it as the Dell Mini 10v but it also has the added advantage of being a lot easier to upgrade the RAM & hard disk in it.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

..how are they expensive to maintain? The refurbs are usually as good as new.

Dell make decent quality machines, they're never going to be Apple standards but I'd only go for them, HP (not Compaq hybrid machines) or one or two other manufacturers when it comes to computers (other than Apple, that is).

I will say though that Dell servers are a right bl00dy pain to work on when they go tits up!

I would also say the Compaq brand is not to bad and I've only seen a few problems with them (mostly down to software related issues & the occasional hardware fault).
