looks like there are only 20 or so left so not going to be around long. They sold 20 for £20 more a week ago.

Not a great cpu and the laptop crowd are likely to sh*t all over it but if it is for email/web/word processing then it seems a much better deal than an atom powered netbook with 1gb ram.

Good laptop but terrible processor. When it comes to laptops you should get one with the very best processor you can afford - it is the one thing that is very hard/almost impossible to upgrade. much better to spend £50 more and get an intel 'i' processor. You WILL notice the difference.

For the sort of thing you'd buy this machine for, I honestly don't think you would.

I would say "old" processor rather than terrible. Depends what you are using it for though. A core I5 isn't going to let your granny load her web sites any faster.

Just a heads up, Argos refurbs have been awful in my recent experience.

this is terrible laptop with terrible specs. (bla bla bla good enough for word processing, whatever)

it's less than £200 though, so people will buy it.

    In computer hardware, yes.

Anyway its still crap, it has the power saving features cut out and is about as fast as a core 2 duo 2ghz. I'd rather spend a bit more and get something decent, but for most people its probably ok.

The Celeron B800 Processor in this is a cut down Sandy Bridge chip with Intel HD 2000 Graphics, it should be fine for most general day to day computing, however it's a ultra low voltage chip so has less features. Head to Head it's about on par with a 2Ghz Core 2 Duo.

    GTFO.

Where do people get this crap. Laptops selling at £800+ use the exact same res. And the CPU is fine for web browsing/videos.

If you think you can get a laptop with a cpu capable of gaming + video editing at this price you're deluded.

why do people here make things up? how is B800 ultra low voltage?

ultra low voltage Celerons based on SB are: 787, 797, 847, 857 and 867, all with 17W TDP.

    B800's TDP is 35W.

    go fail elsewhere.

I wouldn't call a Core 2, slow exactly - yes they are last gen but realistically the way we use computers, especially for day to day tasks hasnt changed much in the past 2-4 years. I'm currently using a Dell tablet with Core ULV U7700 @ 1.33Ghz and tbh, even with programs like cubase, its hardly slow.

For most people, unless they plan on doing Photoshop, Pro Video Editing on a regular basis, will be fine with this. Can't vouch for the durability of Dell Inspirons tho - the plastics on mine are pretty wrecked...
