GRADE B on a laptop?? with no OS? uauau... did u buy also a grade b?

these normally have a windows key on the Base.

14" screen, there are lots of options on this model, who knows what you will get? They don't say. Battery life? Who knows

I've bought quite a bit of kit off SCC over the years and been pleased with all of it but I've noticed that their prices have started to get a bit too much , especially for something without a power supply and an OS. Morgans Computers seems to be a better proposition.

Some of their stuff is very good value, I've got some good laptops from them but haven't seen much on their site recently. I think they are better suited to technical people who know what they are doing though. I had a to do a bit of surgery on one machine to sort it out but it was well worth it.

Not sure about this deal though, seems a bit high for a C2D.

Yeah mine was a grade B, there's usually a windows key on the bottom if it hasn't rubbed off and you can install a Linux OS such as Ubuntu for free.

I bought a Lenove T400 from these guys 18 months ago. No OS installed but the MS CoA on the base so I just needed a CD of the OS (I bought a Dell branded Windows CD off eBay for £5). Battery was as described on their web page (ie some battery life left). I also bought a PS from eBay for under £10. I had a fully functioning excellent laptop for under £100. Excellent very helpful supplier as well. I'd buy from these guys again if I had a requirement that fitted what they had on offer. Don't be put off by people who have never bought from them but still rate them negatively.

I bought a HP ProBook core i5 just shy of 140 6 months ago, no OS and no power supply. The windows license is just under the battery and I had an existing HP power supply. The laptop performs like a dream and was grade B quality - which meant that there was a slight dent on the outer shell - am pleased and will definitely use them again. The laptop was delivered in a timely fashion and came in a protective packaging. The noobs who give a negative review usually do not know what they are doing.

Sorry but this isn't much of a deal if you ask me. SCC trade has upped the prices on everything they sell and no longer really offer any competitiveness. Plenty of similar deals with less faff, part of the alure to SCC was the cheap price for a bit of work.

Same laptop with more ram and a power supply with Windows installed. Only downside is a bit more expensive but will work out the box.

X200 or X200S for similar money and again ready to go so no worries about getting a COA that's unreadable.

Then there's the same machine options elsewhere

Less ram, bigger hdd, guarantee of W7 and has a backlit keyboard

£69.99 for smaller hard disk but otherwise the same with the paint not being perfect.

More ram and the WXGA+ screen, not sure if this model means it's got the discreet graphics.

os'es are free

either windows 7/8 + rearm trail version or just real free ones, so not really a cost factor at all

changers are sub £15

--

tho i rather levenos for easy to work on, and dont mind doing the work on grade c's (since from past ordered with scc i have never had a major issue to fix with grade c)

Even if no Windows key on the base, it's likely to have a SLIC Bios.

I bought this exact model recently on ebay for £50 albeit with one small pressure mark on the display. If it has a license key sticker it is likely to be for Vista.

ebay tends to be better deals vs scc anymore since scc rebranded from sch and raised prices,

E6400 could be Vista or Win 7 depending on what the company (probably a big corporate) who originally bought them requested. Could also be any version of the OS, again depending on what was specified from home (unlikely to be this though) , to premium, to pro to ultimate. From memory the laptops had about a 12 to 15 month cycle as being available from Dell, so also depends when it was ordered as what it could be stickered with. We have a lot with Vista as we were running XP and so downgraded, They were pretty much all replaced by the time we went to W7 as a company.

The follow on E6410 was released as Win 7 came out so is likely to be a W7 sticker, and would be really uncommon to have a Vista sticker)

Where does it say windows is installed?

I'm looking for a cheap reasonable laptop for around £100 for my daughter!
