Edit: yes these are "Scatch or Dent Grade1" but you'll be hard pushed to see any cosmetic damage. Dell for some crazy reason label this as "considerable cosmetic blemishes" well i've had quite a few laptops from the outlet and there has barely been more than a hairline scratch on the glossy lid that you have to hold up to the light to see.

Those are all the items with "Scratches & Dents". Reasonable price for a netbook like this. Not voting either way.
#2
£172 if you want a refurb rather than scratch & dent.....no way of knowing just how damaged scratch & dent is
#3
I have had a scratch and dent grade 2 and it was purely cosmetic and very minor scratch condition
If this is for in a hurry or for yourself I would go this route again

If you can forego the vainity and trumpet how much you saved then go for it

But don't forget

Expensive, like coco said £190 brand spanking new from carphone after quidco. £30 off for a second hand netbook with scratches or dents is just a poor deal IMO.

the CPW offer is out of stock online

I got a couple of these 2 or 3 months ago and can't spot any scratches on them (and my eyesight's fine before you ask). I'm sure my kids will manage to make a few scratches and dents in them soon though. I went for the W7 ones and they run great. Just a shame that upgrading the RAM on them is a nightmare.

Seems a good deal to me. Can you still get quidco on the dell outlet store?
#9
Just ordered one of the Dent and Scratch 10v's in black, will post back what it looks like (scratches) when it arrives.

Very very nice price, after dealing with the retards at Cash Converters (got a dell mini 10v for 150 quid, but the battery charging doesn't work, and then it broke completely - will go back armed with a print out of the fit for purpose section of the goods and services act and demand a refund).

A guaranteed working one direct from Dell seems a much better deal, for only 7 pounds more.

No refurbs left - so I had to risk a scratch & dent. Probably will damage it myself soon enough anway.

How's yours looking? Ordered mine last night, very excited. Now where did I put that OSX disk...
#11
Mine is being made now, maybe its a new one?! None left to buy now, so glad I got one when I did.
#12
Do/did these definately come with Bluetooth or not?
Outlet specs doesn't mention it, but i've read that by default they do.

I was keeping an eye on these last week, and saw some grade 1 S&D with 6-cells for same price as 3-cell - HUKD buyer(s)?

Yes think they seem too * Will let you know when mine arrives - at the moment due on 11/6 but hoping for quicker.

Gutted if I missed 6 cell one for same price - will prob buy a 6 cell battery seperate. Would also buy another if a 6 cell appeared. Let me know if you see one!

*EDIT: After more research I'm now less sure about the bluetooth included. I guess I'll find out - not a prob for me as all my stuff syncs over t'internet now (google cal etc.)

Mine arrived today, was a "scratch and dent" but there are no scratches, no dents, not even a finger print.

Perfect.

Bluetooth?

Also, for you guys wondering about bluetooth and battery size.

Mine did not come with bluetooth, and had a 3 cell battery.

I bought a 6 cell battery from ebay (chinese seller) but it is not recognised by the Mini and wont charge. Lame.

Thanks for all the info. Rep added.

I found this thread useful for battery info over at AVF:

http://www.avforums.com/forums/laptops-netbooks/1223144-replacement-battery-dell-xps-m1530.html

I also want a 6 cell at some point, and these UK sellers look good, but need to find someone who has used them.
#18
Oh and if anyone else if following this thread, there is ONE in stock and it is a refurb and NOT a scratch & dent.

It's £154.53 inc p&p. Cheers.

EDIT: It's gone! Hope a HUKD'er got it.

STOP PRESS

Loads available now at outlet - including one linux and a 8gb SSD for about £125 inc all with FREE delivery

Also a couple of 6 cells - just picked one up for me for me at £151.30 inc. It was a grade 2 scratch & dent though.

This almost deserves a repost.
#20
Just checked back and found a 6 cell scratch & dent that was grade 1, so ordered that aswell. Will cancel the grade 2 one tomorrow.

Free Shipping on all UK Systems
Expires 26 June 2010

Total cost now £151.30 inclusive of VAT (and the free delivery)
(£128.77 ex VAT)

Some 6-cell Grade 1 S&Ds in there.

I was originally very tempted to get one of these, but instead went for the msi Wind u100 plus from Maplin (£204.99 delivered after using the £15 off voucher).
Main reasons:
- slighlty faster N280 CPU (1.66Ghz)
- Draft n wireless
- Bluetooth
- And it is new with 2 years MSI warranty
Other misc such as easier to add ram, more compatible for Hackintosh.
Only drawback so far is the non-multi touch (synaptics) touch pad (but on the other hand, I really didn't get along with the all-in-one button+touch pad design these dell minis use)
#22
Sounds like a good deal, didn't realise they were more compatible for Hackintosh, as that is exactly what I plan to do with my dell.

Also good that it is easier to add ram. Will stick with my 10v now though.

You know when you hackintosh... just say you mess up can you go back to XP for free without a backup disc etc? or will u have to re-install XP?
How easy is it to hackintosh and how much will it cost maximum?
thanks:thumbsup:

Not sure. I'm going to try and not mess up! I have read somewhere that the restore stuff is hidden on a partition, but I guess that will go when I install OSX.

Worst case you could put a free version of linux on if you didn't want to purchase a new version of XP.
#25
mumbojumbo
There's a hidden restore partition which allows you to reinstall XP without an activation code. It also means that you don't need an external optical drive or bootable USB flash drive. Plus this technically means that you have an unused XP product key on the base. :whistling:

If you delete the partition, then all is not lost. You can reinstall using the included CD and an external CD-ROM drive or you can make a bootable USB drive to install.

Great info. Repped
#26
Mine arrived today, not a scratch on it - very pleased.

OSX 10.6 is already on, but I did delete the hidden xp partition. Like mumbo said I can always use the CD to put it back.

Cheers

My 6 cell arrived today, again without a scratch, and it has bluetooth on it. Luck of the draw I guess, I am very pleased.

Now to get rid of the extra 3 cell one.....

If you have a 3 cell battery going spare, I would happily take it off your hands :). Pm me and we can work something out?
#29
Pm sent, but I can't sell the battery without the netbook.

I managed to order a 6 cell 1011 with Windows XP for £133 this evening, using the £20 off voucher. It is a refurb, not a scratch and dent. Very pleased. :D

I ordered exactly the same spec for the same price. There was a 3 cell for £121 in Jade Green also.
