Cold, very cold. Its not that much more for a 15" proper spec'ed laptop

I actually thought the point was, this is one of the "new breed" of small portable, wi-fi laptops for people on the move, not a desktop replacement, therefore size is of greater importance as is weight and portability....small size, lightweight and portability normally come at a greater premium.
A 12" is loosing its way as a netbook. It has the limitations of a netbook but approaching the size of a laptop. I fail to see what market this is aimed at.
I have to agree with others.

Why would you buy this over a Samsung NC10, MSI Wind or Acer Aspire One ?, apart from the Dell having a bigger screen. But if you're after a bigger screen, why buy a netbook?
The NC10 has a faster processor, bigger hard drive and double the battery life, for less money.
All this is, is a 'proper' laptop with every single component and feature being low, low spec, with the same high, high price. What price would this be if the licence fee for XP was on top? What a waste of money. It's not even portable. 12" is not really 'netbook' size anymore. Much better off with a 'proper' laptop with a decent CPU, a bigger HDD, more RAM, slightly larger screen, larger keyboard etc. Cold. Toe-snappingly cold.
Great deal.

It always puzzles me why people say this is 'too big' for a netbook. The whole point of a netbook (the clue's in the name) is that it's a cheap system good for browsing the web on the move. This fits the bill wonderfully. It's light, it's got a high resolution 1280x800 screen, it runs Linux and it's low power.

While the price is a little high and the battery a little small the only other netbook with this resolution is the HP mininote and that has problems so it's definitely hot from me.

Certainly, it'd be a cold deal if you could find a 1.24kg 12" (or even a 1.24kg 15") full power laptop for this price but those sort of things tend to be closer to £1500 like the sony TZ series.

I am having trouble finding how out to get Linux on it for this price though, I can only see the vista option.

Use the ecode in the OP or the direct link in post No1.

You wont see the deal listed directly on the Dell site yet.
This is missing the point of a netbook.

If you want a 12" laptop, then this could be a cheap option if you are willing to suffer the slow CPU (why is it slower than other netbooks?).

I paid £200 for a 1280x768, 120GB, 1GB, Bluetooth, WiFi netbook a few weeks back from a deal here. Weaker CPU sure, but decent keyboard, design, and properly portable.
At last the price of these things is coming down, pity they put a Z530 and a 1.8" drive in it.

These are great if you want a netbook with a bigger screen and don't need much performance,
