whats the difference between the 09towh68 at £145 and the deal posted by the op
is there one as the spec looks the same
is it down to condition as its refurbished

sorry for being a pest
#2
also is it worth spending the 40 odd quid extra to get the 16gb hardrive
#3
Am I being thick - I can't see any mini 9s?
#4
go to the Stockroom pull down box and swap it to Inspiron Notebooks.

It defaults to a different laptops set.

Anyone tell me which is the better netbook, this or advent 4211 which is the same price refurb but 10" screen. I know that the mobile broadband is probably not in the 4211 but as I'm not sure I understand the difference between that and inbuilt wireless I don't think I need to worry about that bit.
Sorry but I take a little while to catch up with technology.
#6
I bought a Mini 9 with WWAN of the outlet the other week for £141.52 with the £50 discount.

It arrived and it was broken, the battery would not charge and at boot it just crashed to a blue screen in a continous loop. Absolute rubbish and I suspect it had not been checked properly - it still had the Vodafone SIM in it. They did handle the return and refund very well though.

Personally I would go with the Advent 4211 or the 4211c (a bigger hd for £10 more). The Advent is a rebadged MSI Wind, and if you look at reviews it scores very favourably. A hard disk and the 10" screen really seal it.

Oh wait, you mean the refurbished ones?

No thanks

An alternative to this if the key thing for you is the built in unlocked 3G broadband, then the Advent 4213 - which is availible from Dixons Group stores online (Currys, Dixons, PC World) for £209 refurbished or £249 new. If you are buying new you can get for the same price (£249) instore in many Currys/PC Worlds. It has broadly better specs than the Dell (Hard drive etc) so might well be worth it for £20 more.

[I just bought the Dell by the way! So don't trust everything I say! I have just fancied one of these tiny Dells for a while and was hoping to get one I could pop a non voda sim in to - BTW if anyone knows that this won't work on the Dell listed here do let me know so I can cancel my order!!]

Thanks inbuilt 3G is essential for me with ssd regardless of size second

To be clear, there are no brand new mini 9s for this price? If so can someone post a direct link?

Chances are they will not be refurbished but unsold units sent back by from vodafone who have now replaced the mini 9 with a choice of mini 10 or Samsung NC10 (my preffered choice)

So with the 3G broadband would it be possible to take the Sim out of say, a 3 mobile internet dongle, and put it in the Dell Mini 9 for internet connection on the move without a dongle sticking out the side?

What's the warranty on this by the way?

All the 3g Mini 9s were, AIUI, only available through Vodafone stores. So all the WWAN ones are Vodafone customer returns. As they haven't been available for some time from Vodafone it seems likely that all the ones appearing on the Outlet are warranty returns. My experience, and that of at least one other - though I can't find the relevant post ATM, has not been positive. It seems that the "refurbishment" of these machines, which were most likely returned due to faults within the warranty period, has been at best a cursory once over, reinstall of OS and repackage before being put on the Outlet.

no not really, im typing on mine now, ive had it about 6 weeks and cant put it down
not a sign of it being a refurb other than a bit of sticky where the vodafone sticker used to be.

you can still get these new from pcworld for £260 (in some stores no longer available for delivery) or on a 24 month :o mobile 3G contrct from vodafone.

You are correct, I was wrong to say they are no longer available form Vodafone, http://shop.vodafone.co.uk/shop/mobile-broadband-devices/netbook?compatible=false

Ain't going to waste my time trying to buy another though ;-)

Not sure what to do, kinda tempted
#23
does anyone know if the 3g card on it is locked?

It comes unlocked, but you'll have to download and install the drivers & the dell wireless manager application from the dell website to get it to work - I have mine set up using my O2 sim with unlimited data bolt on - it gets really good speeds almost as fast as regular BB

As you would expect - the antenna will be much bigger in a netbook than a USB stick.

Mine was harry brand spankers new. It's the best thing I've bought for a while. Highly recommended. My Asus Eee PC 1000H is lying pretty unused, I might even sell it. The only thing I can't fettle is the multi-touch trackpad on the Dell, it's capable apparently.

The Dell Mini 9 is a great tweakers machine, unlike the 10v's the memory is upgradable, the ssd is decent quality (STEC ones), it's got no fans, no whirring hard drives, it's just silent and deadly.

Ordered my dell mini 9 last time was on offer with the wwan card built in, Arrived within a few days. Perfect condition. Have now upgraded the memory to 2 Mb and also upgraded the ssd to 32 Gb. I plugged in my Vodaphone sim and immediately conected to the web. Absolutely fantastic buy. Very Hot

That's definitely the case with the Mini 9, was surprised how good the reception was. Far better than a dongle, or even a standard mobile.

By the way, with a bit of vliting you can install Windows 7 on the 8GB model. I upgraded to 2gb memory, although tbh hasn't made a lot of difference if you're onyl running a web browser.

Dell stopped making Mini 9 netbooks a while ago, so I would think that all their stock is refurbs

Guys, dont you have direct link to this. I am struggling to find this product on the provided link.

The one I purchased two weeks ago was brand new and unopened.

Will flash videos like YouTube work on these ones?

Also are these better than the other deal for the Acer Aspire One A150 for £149.98?

Can I ask how did you set up Dell wireless manager to use O2 sim? I cant find any option in the application to set up.

Dam ordered but I want to cancel and they have shipped for delivery on the 3rd.

I ordered early hours of this morning and then Advent 4213 pops ups. Went to PC Word where they have both next to each other and the glossy screen on the 9 is unreadable if there is any light shining onto it, the Advent 4213 is so much better. Prefer the 9 in most other respects but the screen reflection is really bad and this was just in store so I dread what it would be like outside!

Anyone know how I can back out of the Dell deal now they have moved to ship without any cost to me?

Thanx

Let me get this right...

I have an o2 sim card but NO iphone. I have a sony ericsson and my sim is 3G as the sign comes up on my phone. My sim card has an unlimited web bolt-on.

Does this mean i can plug the sim into this netbook and get unlimited web?
