Lots of stock of the Dell Mini10v back at the Outlet shop and free delivery is back until 5th April 2010.
Go to the link. Click the big "Start Shopping Now" button then sort by price to see these machines at the top of the list... There's some some 6-cell or Win7 machines in the mix and a few even cheaper "Scratch & Dent" laptops available too. ...

(BTW, This is the machine which is easily hackintoshabe. The model appears to be being phased out worldwide and had been disappearing from many Dell Online stores recently. The replacement models are not so easily compatible with OSX.)

Got one of these last time, listed as refurb but was like new, came with Win7, but with a US keyboard. Quick call to Dell sorted that

Asked them to send out a keyboard (as it's an easy DIY fit, three screws on the back and pop off,
info here: http://support.euro.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1010/en/sm/keyboard.htm#wp1188185

Dell said they'd send a UK one, but emailed back they wanted to send an Engineer too. Keyboard turned up in the meantime, I fitted it myself in a couple of mins and cancelled Engineer visit

P/S dont forget Quidco.

Unfortunately you can't get cashback via Quidco for any purchases via the Dell UK Outlet.

You'll need to go through all of them, one by one, to see if they have any extras - unfortunately the three cell battery is the standard for this model.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

Mine was a 3 Cell - had Win 7 though - probably need to trawl through the specs on each one and see what it includes, think you'll be lucky to get Win 7 and 6 Cell, good luck.

That's amazing if it does go through, as the Dell UK Outlet has never been linked up to Quidco or TopCashBack before - it's definitely the Outlet you went through when you purchased this and not the Dell SME site?

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

Well, I'm not holding my breath as it's only tracked, not validated or anything, so it will probably get declined.
I went in via the Quidco link to Dell and maybe then navigated to the outlet site, I think - can't remember exactly. Be handy if it comes in!

I bought a 'Scratch and Sniff' last time for £146 delivered. Absolutely unmarked, not sign of ever having been used. However the Delete key was 'wobbly'. Just taken delivery of a new keyboard (hope its a UK one, I haven't checked.)

Running Snow Leopard.

Can you return these if you are not happy with it? Thanks

For those interested the Acer Aspire One D250 is priced at £199.99 and is available at Amazon. I purchased this the other day and it's a fantastic little Netbook. It also has a 6 cell battery as well as SD card reader. For £25 extra it might be worth taking a look. Just thought I'd throw that one into the pot as well.

Cracking price. I'm typing this on my Mini10v Hackintosh. Very easy job to install OS X.
(Not only does it run Snow Leopard very well, but it also runs Xcode with no trouble for anyone interested in learning iPhone development.)
#23
Can you upgrade the 3 cell battery to a 6 cell version later on if required?

In addition to the mydellmini.com site, I can recommend osx.mechdrew.com which probably has the clearest guides, together with other useful info and links.

Yes, just buy a 6 cell from ebay:thumbsup:

Why do so many people wanna run OSX on this? Does it run faster than WindowsXP/Win7? I had OSX on my pc but I only ever used it to run logic, other than that it was nothing spectacular..
#29
There's another one on their now - I've just taken it out of my cart! I think I'll regret the 3 cell battery. From what I've been reading you really need the 6 cell battery to make it truly portable.

It's what people are used to. If you've been on a Mac for your entire life then it'd be nice to run OSX on a smaller laptop. The only option you get as a Mac user is the 13" Macbook or Macbook Pro. This is a cheaper alternative to run OSX
#31
thanks for this! just bought one for my sisters birthday! there were only 2 left!

Find me an Apple laptop that's £200? :)

OSX doesn't get the inevitable slow-down that a lot of Windows computers I've used do, and is generally quicker and less hassle, as well as being nicer to use.

OSX is a GUI on top of a Unix derivative. Unix is as old as the Internet (just over 40 years). A tried and tested OS, with a lot of flexibility and functionality. Makes a nice change to Windows, not essential by any means.

I see one now. Could they be refreshing their stocks?

I think it's probably people adding them to their basket - then choosing not to buy them. They then get released back after 15 minutes.
