One word of warning on this deal, there is a shortage of Penryn cpu's and dell are quoting up to 4 weeks delivery so if it is indeed a misprice they have plenty of time to cancel orders should they wish to.

a laptop with a blueray writer? seems like abit of a gimmick at the moment to me. Prices will plumet on blu-ray writers over the next year.

Better to get the other laptop IMO then in six months time, if you want a blu-ray rewriter just replace the DVDRW with one.

Not sure they'll plummet that much, competition in the shape of HD-DVD is gone, Sony are well known for their price fixing and need to recoup some of their R&D

Plus have you seen the price of blank BD discs? Definately a premium product...

If Blu-ray discs remain expensive, flash might becomea reasonably viable alternative when you consider the benefits. Although, am i right in saying the read and write speeds are much poorer with flash memory? Surely being instant though would help. How long before we start seeing 16gb flash cards for £20?

Okay on reflection I admit, flash being as cheap as blu-ray is very unlikely.
