One word of warning on this deal, there is a shortage of Penryn cpu's and dell are quoting up to 4 weeks delivery so if it is indeed a misprice they have plenty of time to cancel orders should they wish to.
[mod]#2
The same deal in small business with no error comes to £729 delivered
#3
This is a great deal mike.
How likley would they be to cancel this order?
Have they cancelled many orders in the past that u know of?
#4
N ot bad, shame about the lack of screen upgrade options.

Just treat it like a lottery ticket with full money back if you loose.

I would think that some will make it through before they wake up, maybe alter something in the order like go for 256meg graphics to see if that confuses them ;-)

looks a great deal might be worth a try

Look at this link

http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/xpsnb_m1530?c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs

The 2 laptops in the middle, the 1 on the left is £50 cheaper yet has a faster, newer processor an extra 1GB of ram and a bigger hard drive.

Looks pretty good, 5% quidco as well.
#9
yeah forgot quidco
#10
coming £494.67?!!
#11
Thanks Mike this is a cracking deal ,I have been after a new laptop for a few months and I have been watching the boards.
I have placed my order and will keep my fingers crossed that it will go through OK..
Keep up the good work Mike..

good deal if they put it through, in the past I have not had much luck.
#13
Thank god the price went up, I bought an outlet laptop around the same spec last week for an extra £100!!
[mod]#14
The price delivered is still £464

You must go through to checkout to see the final price remember meshosa!

Very good deal so thanks MIke. Now I have to sell my 640m which has just been serviced and has a new hdd, new optical drive, new keyboard and touchpad and clicky things. I only sent it in to get the hdd fixed and it's a year old now, sent it in just before the warranty ran out.

unfortunately though I bought it for £500 after quidco and it looks like it's selling for about £250 at the moment at best. That's a depreciation of around £300 over a year. bah!

Seems like I lose around £200 on laptops every year by upgrading like this. It's almost like renting a laptop.

My old ****** 1.4ghz celeron dell with 512mb of ram and a 40gb hdd though was the best in terms of relative cost. Cost me £230 and sold it for £200 two years later.

Could anyone briefly tell me how much I'm likely to get for my 640m. It's a light compact laptop.

1.6ghz dualcore 2
2gb ram
160gb hdd
integrated graphics unfortunately
8x DVDRW
wi-fi
true life screen

Makes me wonder how much I'll end up selling this one for and when I will.

The joy of dell is that if they let the order stand and its 4 weeks delivery, if anything better comes up in those 4 weeks you can just cancel the order and go with the new order instead.
#17
£504 with the 256 graphics card
#18
Just bought one thanks, price is still £464.16.

to be fair though in four weeks deals like this are unlikely to come up really. It's a cracking deal, the best I've seen on here in a long while. with quidco it's about £450 when VAT is taken into account.

I've never had an order cancelled by dell, what's the current climate? I remember when they did that BOGOF 22" monitor mistake, and I'm typing this on that £168 2.2dualcore, 2gb ram, 320gb desktop. lol

Is this a good laptop for gaming?!?

Upgrade to the 8600GT and its a fantastic gaming laptop.
#25
Not sure that this is a misprice - just offering a big discount as they know that the processors are out of stock, so using this as an incentive to get customer to buy in advance from them rather than from a competitor

[COLOR="Red"]Choosing this part will delay your system order by 4 weeks.
Expires 27 March 2008
- £204.85 [/COLOR]

Looks like a good deal - shame the screen resolution can't be changed though.
#26
This is a bargain laptop for the price (£464.16).

Raystradamus, if you want it for games then you should seriously consider the "NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 8600M GT with 256MB dedicated graphic memory [add £40.00 or £1/month1]" for an extra £40, it's well worth the money.
#27
9 cell battery is £117, lol.

Gone for the 8600GT version. Let's hope they go through, cheers Mike (once again) :)
#28
gone for this... thanks...

My 2 year old Sony Vaio has a damaged screen and i was quoted £400 for a repair!!!

so this expires today then ???

Yes, theoretically I guess they could quote that technicality as a reason to cancel orders as afteral, if the discount has expired why should they honour orders? I don't think they'd be breaking the contract as it's clearly stated.

No idea - that was the info in the shopping basket once I went to checkout. The screen size is too small for me so didn't bother buying it.

I know the 8600GT graphics for the XPS are DDR3 can anybody tell me if the 8400 is also DDR3 and whether it is better than a 8600GT with only DDR2. Hopefully this makes sense. Im sorry if it doesnt tho!

OK beam me up Scotty!

The XPS with 8600GT have DDR3 faster graphics ram and from experience overclock nice too.I would always upgrade to the 256meg solution. You will always wish you had from around 10 mins after ordering ;-)

For info on the two chips, have a look at the following links
NVidia GeForce 8400M GS
NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT

The 8600GT looks to be faster by as much as 2x in certain applications - a definite must have if planning on playing any modern games.

Not sure when the £94 discount will end but the extra £50 you get off will end on the 9th as shown below.
