Please be gentle - this is my first post!

waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay up on prices

Picked up a Vostro 1310 with 1.8 Core 2 processor and 160GB HD all in for £280 delivered inc. £55 discount! Beats the hell out of those overpriced Netbooks for the same price which I was considering. Mind you I was scanning Outlet for several days before the deal came.

You can install anything you would on any other brand. This is a common misconception.

I got a Vostro 220ST desktop with Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 for £155 a couple of weeks ago with the same offer - before that I was beginning to panic that sub-£200 desktop deals would disappear with the value of the pound!

On the DELL site it says "Dell Outlet is a division of Dell Products, selling refurbished computer equipment..."
And this 55 pounds of is only for Dell Outlet
So it's a good bargain, but only if you buy a refurbished product
which I am not sure, but is somehow risky

I have bought four lappies and towers from Dell Outlet over the last two years. All were perfect as new , never had any problems. The Vostro refurbs come with same standard 1 year next business day warrant included, that is fantastic! Many refurbs come with just 1-3 month warranty, and I would not touch with a barge pole.

Dont be put off at all. The majority of these will be laptop that say tesco direct ordered, and then returned after they didn't sell. I have bought quite a few laptops from dell outlet and they have all come basically brand new. Anyway if your not happy with condition on arrival send it back

I'm on my lovely new dell studio 1537 from outlet, got it a couple of weeks ago and it was excellant value. It is time consuming refreshing the page to check for the newly added good stock, but worth it. Mine even has a backlit keyboard and although it said no software included it came with microsoft works.

And to everyone who says they bump up the prices I don't believe it to be true as I have checked since and the same system is definetly more now.

Good luck

oh **** I think I might have inadvertently clicked on spammed (dunno what it does) on the main page.

apols...how do i undo it if i did it?

Yeah this is true, I've regularly been checking the Dell Outlet site over the years, the prices are higher when there's an offer on. Also VAT is not included so not such a bargain after thats added.

Two major problems with this deal:

1 Its a Dell deal and Dell sucks

2 Its from Dell outlet and you could be fetting a pig in a poke

You sir, are talking total and utter garbage and clearly do not know one end of a PC from the other, specifically Dell ones. I've dealt with Dell Outlet, Home & Business over the course of 5 years, purchasing well over 150 desktops and laptops and not once had to return a 'pig in a poke'.

Are you a Mac user by any chance :giggle:

Partially agree:

1) Yes it's Dell and vanilla Dell does suck, unless you wipe the hard drive completely on delivery, and install XP/Linux from scratch. (However, to be fair, I'd do that with every new computer.)

2) I've bought many items from Dell Outlet, they've all been brand new, in perfect condition and unmarked.

I didnt use the 55 off but seems like I''ve got a good deal after a few days hunting on Dell Outlet:
XPS 720 - Core 2 Quad 2.4 , 3GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Creative X-Fi Extreme Gamer sound card, nVidia 8800GTX 768MB, NO OS. All for 400 quids delivered.
How do u think guys ?
One bad thing is Dell always do 1x2GB and 2x512MB for 3G Ram systems, any1 recommends somewhere to get good price 2G Ram ? FSB is 1066 I guess :-s

This is pretty much a permanent 'deal', I don't see why it even gets posted.
And it's hardly a deal when, as others have already pointed out, they bump the prices up to make up the loss.

The last time this was on was about 4 weeks ago and I managed to pick up a Core 2 Duo Vostro slimiline PC with 2GB RAM and 160GB HDD for £210 delivered - thought that was a good price.

They do put the price up on some of the systems but if you regularly check it.... there are some bargains to be had

Found an Inspiron I want to order, but screen freezes and session crashes every time I reach checkout... other IE sessions are fine so seems it's the Dell Outlet website - is it usually this bad?
EDIT: Think it was because someone else had beaten me to it - found another one now in bubblegum pink so ordered - decent spec too - thanks!

Nice one Davo - you just gotta be ready to pounce when the good ones get posted! :D

The same one is on the outlet for over a grand so that's a bloody good deal.
