I think the Mini 10 For 208-50 delivered might be a better deal, Atom Z520 ,XP Home Edition,
1024mb RAM, 160gb 5400 rpm HD
By the way i don't think the link is working.

the wwan makes this a good deal - wwan means it has a 3g and gps module. to me they outweigh the small 8gb ssd which costs only about £80 or so to upgrade to 32gb. the 8gb you can then sell. the wwan module alone is worth far more than this and could be sold off.

you might even be able to claim back the microsoft tax on windows, which could reduce price after purchase and refund from dell by £40ish if you decline eula when it first boots (search the net concerning this before assuming it will work)

If you're after a netbook to use in windows, I'd agree the 10 is a better machine. However if you want a machine to, uh, experiment with OS X then the 9 is a much better option as every last bit of hardware works. Either way you'd have a very nice little machine for not very much money.

Not sure if the link works, this should work:

These are great little machines!

Mod edit: Do not post items for sale in deal threads, thats what the For Sale forum is for.

It doesn't have GPS, only 3G, but you still need to pay for it and still need a sim to use in it, and most companies only do the 3g internet sims with a dongle anyway.

The stupid SSD is what stopped me buying one of these before, got an aspire one instead and love it.

The cards dell use do have GPS, but you have to enable it..

Re the SSD, you obviously don't understand the technology and the benifits.

Links don't work - I think you have to manually search - choose Dell Inspiron 910 or 1010 (mini 9 or mini 10).

Thanks for posting this, been looking for one for an online CIMA course I'm about to start...

Ah k, I do understand SSD's but most of the netbook manufacturers use rubbish cheap ones that are much slower anyway. And 8GB is too little to be practical.

I do think 8gb is pushing it, that is why I sold my Dell mini and brought a acer aspire one with a 16gb, it was the £150 play deal in blue with the wireless Wan card and gps, and I love it.

I do think the dell is better built and as it is totally fan less is a plus.

But for proper netbooks I do think SSD is the way.

THe dell SSD is very fast, faster then any HDD, but I know there are some cheap SSD's that are very slow...

I think it is a good deal, but not for me, it would be a bargain if under £140 I suppose.

they do have gps ;)

the wwan module has inbuilt gps, it just isnt enabled:
http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=dell+mini+9+wwan+gps

via linux/osx just use minicom to send the appropriate AT commands
via windows: install a driver to enable the gps

voila!

My one from batch before the last one on here has GPS and if I put my sim in from my phone mobile internet.

Yeah the ssd is small but fast I will nlite when I have time or get a bigger faster runcore one in the mean time it has still been dead handy.

lucky sod! :)

i saw a couple of those and tried to grab one but they disappeared and I had to just get an 8gb.

Those 16gb ones did make me wonder what the source of these mini 9s were. some people speculated these mini 9s were vodafone returns from when they stopped selling them, but the random 16gb makes me wonder

I must admit I am tempted to order one as my ASUS EEE PC 4G Surf is playing up but I would prefer the smaller screen, as it's easier for me to carry it around with me (along with my work tools) especially when I need to head out of the UK at the drop of a hat...mmm...decisions, decisions...this one or the 8.9" Acer Aspire One with 1GB of RAM, 160GB Hard Disk & Windows XP Home...difficult.

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

I have been through an Eee 4G, an Eee 900 and now have one of these (had it for about 6 months).

It's the same size as the 4G and infinitely better!

Excellent tip!! Only seems to be available through the 'HOME' section. I just got a Mini 1010 for £187. Maybe these should be listed as a new deal?
