No monitor?
[mod]#2
No Monitor with the deal but BT shop do have some at reduced prices.

Welcome Mickknipfler to HUKD ;)
#3
Thanks Mike (and I wasn't being critical by the way). I guess many people plug better spec PC's into a large screem TV/monitor these days anyway.

Is it possible to run 2 monitors, a large screen as well as a near field monitor?

Take a peek at the Dell 256MB PCIe nVidia GeForce 7800GTX Graphics card manual, that should answer all the questions you may have.

Yes there is sortoff ;) Join Quidco and buy via them for your discount.

Seriously I very much doubt there would be and before you managed to find that out from BT the offer will be gone.

Your very welcome:thumbsup:

This may have escaped attention too:

DVD Writer R/RW DL 16x max and DVD 16x MAX

So 2 optical drives fitted.
#12
Yep it did :-D
#13
Would you need a wi fi card to make it wifi compatible?
#14
I couldn't see a reference to one being fitted so you'd need a PCI or USB wireless adaptor which will set you back £10-£20.
#15
[SIZE=2][SIZE=2]Looking around the graphics card and processor together are probably worth about £600 themselves. [/SIZE]
I want to buy this as it is a great deal but cant justify or afford it at the moment. :( [/SIZE]

amazing price, it does seem like PC's are dropping in price every week.
Mmmm.... can I warrant upgrading yet, or should I say can I upgrade without my girlfriend noticing I've spent the cash.
#17
Wow, didn't realise quite how good a card the 7800GTX was.
Curses, do I cancel my laptop order and buy this? Decisions decisions, my brain is going to explode :)
#18
Blumming heck I have just checked out the price of the processor in this system and Ebuyers price is almost £370 without delivery.

This is a very very good price for this whole system.
#19
Could I use a Toshibe 32WLT66 as a monitor?
#20
Thanks Mike for a fantastic deal. Can anyone suggest a good =>19' monitor possibly with a DVI connection to go with this.
#21
I wish I hadn't bought the 5150 now from Bt shop from the previous sale. Very good price, can't justify upgrading after only a couple of months, lol.

#23
Thanks mike, just gone and ordered myself one of these.

Does anyone know if there is likely to be a extra spare slot so i can add another 7800gtx card
#24
sorry for the ignorance but what would you do with 2?
#25
i mean does it have sli Dual graphics card capabillity.
#26
Is this really quiet or is there any fan noise ?
#27
Don't know. Doesnt it use an old 840 processor, which has heat problems. Plus does not support 64bit. You can get a better Intel Core 2 Duo processor for around £125.

Hard disk works out around £60
Graphics £260
Ram - £70
DVD drives - £40
Mobo - £sub50
PSU/Case - £50

How does this work out to £600

I haven't looked into pricing on everything here but your back of the envelope there without the Audigy, keyboard/mouse and XP Home comes out to £655....

You're spot on there mate. The price is about average. But the processor really puts me off.
[admin]#30
Fair enough on the processor preference, but let's say an Audigy is £60 or so and XP Home another £60 plus a modest £10 for a cheap keyboard/mouse. That's £655 + £130 = £785. And at that point you still have to take the time to build it and you don't have a system warranty (parts will have the warranties individually).

So for the regular home user that isn't building computers in their spare time it is a real steal, but even for someone who puts together boxes this is a very good price.
#31
Thats a fair point. No hard feelings. :)
#32
How good is the soundcard? For music, are you better off with a separate amp and proper hi-fi speakers?
[mod]#33
Well I told you this morning to be quick if you wanted one of these, its all over now as they have sold out.
Sorry if you missed it, glad for you if you managed to bag one ;)
#34
I got one. Thanks Mike

No absolutely not :D It's always best to approach any deal critically and work through whether it really is a good offer. That's what the forum and voting are all about!
[mod]#36
Just 2 of these left in stock now so grab one if you missed out the other day.

You may also get a suprise with this ;)
[mod]#37
Both gone now but for some reason I cant expire the deal, so someone like to do the honours for me pls ;)
#38
Expired Mikey. I think you can't click expired if you've ever clicked it before... :)

Guys,

What are the options in terms of a a monitor for this PC? What interface/spec do I need? Do I need an HD Ready screen?
