Not for the faint hearted and definitely for the connoisseur sysadmin with a deep pocket.

The R905 is apparently the first 16 core server under £10K and packs four quad core AMD processors with 16GB RAM and a 73GB HDD. Not much more than that.

Not a great deal if you are not after these gadgets but then i am sure that some will appreciate the sheer power underneath the R905's hood..

can these be clustered:w00t:
Apparently yes.. these are rack servers... and cost much less than equivalent Intel, especially when memory is factored in.
A little underpowered for me:w00t:
Finally, a machine that can run Vista smoothly. :w00t:
Any computer can be clustered as long as it has network or something to interconnect them.

Seems like a good deal, could do with a bit more ram though. My work are currently about to buy a 16 core server with 128gb ram, for about £13k. Though thats using Intel Tigerton cores and the pricey FB ram.

ooh yes please:p
Meh, coupla quads would leave this in the dust-----at least for my applications :whistling:
Why cold ?

Although I doubt many people on here are after a domain controller, it takes a special kind of freak to have an AD in their own house.
