Hi What finish is the LCD panel - is it gloss like glass or matt (non shinny) when switched off.

wasnt the one previously up on hukd a few weeks ago 26"?

if it was, it wasn't a Dell...they don't do a 26". IIRC above 24" dell do a 27" and a 30", but these are higher quality (VA or IPS) displays and pretty pricey.

has anoyone had this connected to their ps3? thinking of getting this instead of a 2nd tv, as i already have a 40" sony
#10
god price for a Full HD but I don't really see the point in a Full HD being so small, surely the whole point is to go BIG! not tacky big, just big

lots of people hooking them up to their 360s here. I assume PS3 would be fine just the same.

As for using it as a TV, be careful with viewing angles...it's probably going to be poorer if you're not "straight on".

How have you got this set up? Through a HDMI link (that comes with the elite or available on amazon for £15?) to ensure you get sound?

Identical monitor S2409W was on HUKD 7 weeks ago ............. I'm using it as i type

Total cost £179.28 with free delivery plus 4% quidco

cost me well over 400 when I bought the model before this a year ago... so yeah, very very very good deal (I have mine hooked up to PS3 via dvi switchbox (1080p), since this model seems to have hdmi it will be even easier)
#18
Couldnt resist......decided to go for epp (legitimately) rather than quidco, it was only 1% different (pre vat), and I of course got the discount now rather than in a few months.

thanks for that, I would probably only be using it for a ps3 anyway so not too worried about viewing angles

Super Hot deal! :) heat + rep have been searching everwhere for the last 2 weeks for less than 200 quid. finally.
#22
Been considering this for a while. Price reduction has just tipped the balance and now on order.
Must try and think of an excuse for needing one when wifey comes home this afternoon:roll:
#23
Why do so few monitors have height adjustment now, is it a huge problems that this monitor lacks it?
#24
There's no greater feeling than seeing the box for this arrive. It's huge!!

The only problem I have is when using HDMI and speakers off the screen, the sound fades in for some reason. Resolved by going VGA and have the sound direct from the XBox 360

my chair go's up and down works just aswel:-D
#26
People shouldn't confuse this with higher end 2408WFP which has a higher quality S-PVA as this is probably a TN panel, thus the cheaper price.

Because it's a monitor, not a TV.

has anyone tried PlayTv on this....

can someone exapnd on epp - is it for any individual who works for a company who has a corporate agreement with Dell? eg Dell's 'Premier' scheme?

is quidco not possible in addition?
#30
bought it a few months back when it was £179.28 - it's brilliant!
#31
Nice price for what it is, heat added :) Although as a power user I prefer more pixels rather than native HD res.
#32
also, if people are connecting to their console via hdmi, what are they doing for sound?
#33
I got this a couple of months ago. I was using my PS3 on it for a while and am now using a freeview box with an hdmi connection. It works out that I have a 24 inch LCD freeview TV for £179 (plus quidco) and £14 for the freeview box. Then whenever I want to use it with my laptop I can press the selection button to switch to it in a matter of seconds. Bargain! Very impressed with it and the viewing angles seem good to me.

it has an audio out. connect direct to headphones or to speakers. A cheap 2.1 system will only set you back about £20.
#35
Got mine back wen it was £179 too, very impressed with it. Have mine setup:
VGA - Xbox360 running at 1080p - sound outputted to my SR (surround sound)
DVI - Laptop running at 1920 x 1080 - installed DVB USB Card (to watch freeview channels) - sound to SR
HDMI - DVD with upscaling to 1080p (built into my SR system)

Overall im very impressed with the picture quality on all interfaces after tweaking the settings on each input for the required purpose, i havent seen any screen lag or blurring when using the xbox and find the viewing angles fine for where i have it positioned. :)
