Yes, it's scaled by the monitor.

I have this monitor as a second screen. It's OK but not the best. Suffers from backlight bleed, viewing angle isn't great plus glossy screen which may be a problem for some.

Great resolution though, and nice soft touch controls for setup etc.

I had this for 2 years, great monitor, at the time I paid £160 form pcbuyit.
#6
How do you get that price? With the 20% it's coming to £211.74 including shipping & VAT.
#8
Dell didn't accept the 176400VNNPSCL? code given above.
Did it work for anyone?

i would say samsung (and LG) is king in mainstream monitors...

+ 3 years warranty it can't go wrong

This should be expired as the link goes to the Dell Small business site and it's showing £186 ex vat and delivery.
I also tried the code posted, which does not work.
I then tried the Dell Home site, adding the monitor to my basket directly from the general monitor listings page as the normal method of opening this monitors product page asks you to contact a dell sales rep with no 'add to basket' option available. Still no joy!
I also believe that quidco would only be 7% on monitors anyway.

Apologies to retroguy. After a few tries it does work to get the deal price, but only on the Dell business site which is also limited to just 5% quidco.
It doesn't list it in the monitor list on the business site but just enter the model in the search bar and it comes up and add to basket from there.
Total ex vat & del is £149.10 -5% quidco = £7.45.
Total payable with quidco should be £173.62.
Don't know what to do now as I hate ordering from the business site with the lack of the 7 day return option though the 3 year swap out warranty still applies. I really fancy this monitor. Decisions!!
Does anyone recollect the cheapest price that this has ever sold for?

The best price I could see it for was here - http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/322166/dell-sp2309w-23-in-2048-x-1152-wide
Posted quite a while back, and the price this time around is better

i paid 175.19 here:

great monitor. does suffer a little bleed but i only notice it on black screen at boot. superb for side by side word editing which i do a lot of.

I also seem to have got a 3 year monitor replacment warranty in to that price. Also got 8.76 quidco

Yes, it's scaled by the monitor..

You sure about that?

Native 1080 would be INFINATELY preferrable to scaled 1152!!??

Yes it does, I've just tried it again! As in the above reply, follow retro's 'how to'

can you buy from business if your not in business?

Yes. Just invent a business name for the required box. I used my surname, just adding an s to the end as in Beckham's :)

If you don't want to be rushed into buying, I think I saw somewhere that the coupon is also valid until the 1st May.

I nearly forgot to add that I just bought one.
Thanks to retroguy for the deal and rep for not losing the plot when I & others claimed that the code didn't work.

What will dell think about it , they will know I'm not a business if I use my last name, will they care, is that not lying?
#25
Hey Anglo,
Thanks for the rep, and no problem, its easy for the Dell business site to leave people a bit confused.
Quantum - As for business name, follow Anglo's advice and you'll be fine, thats the tactic i used and mine arrives tomorrow.
Thanks

Would you sudgest this for an xbox?If not what are the best monitor for hooking it up to xbox?
#27
That resolution is ridiculous on a screen that size - everything will be tiny!

Would you sudgest this for an xbox?
- no, it's pointless buying this for an xbox 360 which has a maximum resolution output of 1080p

I ordered a bespoke system from them on 6th January using my surname which took nearly a month to deliver and to date I haven't heard a thing from them regarding myself being a company or an individual consumer.
It's not a tax issue, if that's what your thinking as you still pay vat on it as a consumer or as a business and you can't claim the vat back unless you're a business that is vat registered.
The only thing you lose out on is your right to return within seven days as a consumer. That can be important to some but I've taken a chance on this monitor as I also did with my pre-built system. The 3 year warranty remains the same for both options. :)

I am now sitting in front of my 2309, I've been holding out for a good monitor now for about six months and I have to say, its been worth the wait.
This screen isn't for watching movies on for me, its for programming, document writing etc, so the 2048x1152 is really fantastic.
The USB ports on the device are an ideal space saver as well.
Also, I ordered this on Monday afternoon and it arrived here about an hour ago.
No complaints so far.

I hope I feel the same too!:)

Not sure exactly what you mean here.
Did you try watching a movie on it and didn't like it or do you actually mean that you didn't buy it to watch movies on at all?I'm thinking at worst that I'll just have black bars when watching the odd film on it.

The USB ports on the device are an ideal space saver as well.
Also part of the reason I bought it for. (Chose this one over the Phillips on ebuyer.)

Also, I ordered this on Monday afternoon and it arrived here about an hour ago.

Ordered mine yesterday (Tuesday 16th) at 15.30, received confirmation at 10pm and courier email today (17th) stating delivery tomorrow, the 18th between 8am and 6pm. Very, very good delivery timescale considering it's from Dell.(If it arrives!)
The order tracking with their delivery company is non-existent though, entered details requested and it tells me no order exists. :-D

Hi Anglo,
Yes, I didn't buy it to watch movies on.
Hope you get yours soon

It did arrive on the 18th as promised at 12.30 and very, very nice it is too.

Only one problem, it has one dead pixel about 5 inches in from the right halfway up the screen. Not too noticeable really, it was actually hard to find it using 'Dead Pixel Buddy' showing up on only 3 of the test colour screens. It's just knowing that it's there that will bug me. :)

I'm hoping it will spring to life by itself or respond to whatever methods are out there to help free it. I'm not sure if I can return it under the T&C's or even want the hassle of doing so. I'll have a look in the afternoon, I need to sleep now. :lazy:

awsome monitor, how do i adjust the brightness?

Move your hand towards the power button, another light will appear above, press it and another 4 lights appear. Press the menu light to access it and you will see 'brightness & contrast' at the top of the menu list. Green tick light to enter sub menu's, up & down to select - green tick to confirm changes - then the reverse arrow light to exit. :)
