If you're a member of AV Forums, you can get this for 175.95 from PCBuyIt (not sure of shipping costs). See the link in the post here.

Edit - oops, different model....

HOT HOT HOT.. Just hope this panel is as good as I am expecting.. i SO want one
#4
I think (and i might be wrong) but the AVforums link to pcbuyit is for the S2309W NOT the SP2309W, the difference is that the S2309W is only 1902 x 1080 (Full HD) not the supeb resolution of 2048 x 1152 in the SP2309W.. But is all depends on what you need it for.
#5
The AVforums exclusive is a different model (and will probably be giving avforums quite a nice bit of comission too).

Yes, that's right the one on AV Forums has a lower resolution and is cheaper.

The SP2309W on PCBuyIt is 207 pounds.

I got the S23909W, it's a cracking monitor.

Hot from me!
#10
Looks good, don't forget %5 Quidco as well...
#11
If using a PS3 with this how will it handle the resolution cos obviously ps3 is full hd at 1920x1080 but this is higher than that. will it cause problems or downscale it as such?
#12
For anyone tempted to go for this offer [like me] don't forget your cashback ;)
Dell gives 3% on TopCashBack which equates to a further saving of almost £6
I'm not sure if Quidco offer the full 5% to Personal customers or wether that's just for Business users. I know TCB has that stipulation.
#13
not bad, but this deal is almost 30 quid cheaper

My wife thought I was barmy when I bought this, now she loves it for the side by side page viewing for her Uni work. Windows 7 really makes that easy to use as well. Anyone sitting on the fence, get off and buy this, it really is superb.

Here's a LINK to the original thread, there is loads in there about PS3s and stuff

The Dell has integrated webcam and HDMI. Whether they are worth £30 is a personal opinion.

Oh, and the Dell has touch sensitive buttons.

Yes, but it could be argued that this is 'better' quality, looks better, has a webcam, 2x mics, USB ports, 'better' 2ms response time & probably better connectivity too - VGA, DVI, HDMI, audio line-in & line-out. This also has the TrueLife 'glossy' screen, which may appeal to some.
#18
indeed fair points.

Hi Im not too bothered about the size difference but am in the market for a new monitor and would like one capable of HD. What would be the best monitor between this Dell one and this iiyama one http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/318730/24-hdmi-full-hd-1920x1080-iiyama-pr/

This one would probably edge it for me, on account of the better looks, connectivity, ergonomics (swivel, tilt & height-adjustable) & other gimmickry (as mentioned in my previous post).

However, not everyone can get along with a 'glossy' (reflective) screen, & the ultra high-res could mean that text will appear smaller than you're used to (scaling could help to alleviate this though).
#21
what a shame it can't rotate to portrait mode like the 2408. Mind you, that one is about 200 pounds more expensive.
#22
Whats the script with the soundbar, do I remember reading in the last thread that it doesn't work?
#23
******, just had mine delivered this very morning... could have saved myself £12.
It is a cracking monitor :-)
#24

You purchase a freeview box that has an HDMI output.
#26
is this the only way??
#27
Just ordered thanks! (my boss got one too!) Heat and rep added.
#28

I have a two-year old Dell 24" widescreen and the thing is too big to rotate. I mean it can, but you end up with an enormous A4 screen you could read across the room. Good if you run Waterloo Station and want to put up the train times, but OTT on a desk.. With a 24" screen you don't need to pivot. You can have two A4 pages open side by side at 100% zoom with room to spare. I used to rotate my old 19" monitor for text writing. Since I got this 24" monster I don't have to bother.

Besides, if you rotated it, the webcam picture would be sideways...

Thanks!

Any vouchers, Quidco etc .... or is that too greedy !!
#34
I bought one of these last time... excellent monitor.
I have my PC in the DVI and my Xbox360 in the VGA... Im tempted to put my PS3 in the HDMI too :D

If you look at the pictures on the Dell site, it says that it is compatible with the AX510 Soundbar...

... Dont want to sound like a muppet, but what does this do that normal speakers cant?

Cheers

Anyone know how much it would be to send one of these monitors to Vienna, Austria. I really want to get one but they are 60quid cheaper in UK than Austria. Also would people recommend sending (or not) a monitor by courier.
#40
I assume we all agree that there is no point buying this is you just want it for HD viewing (PC movies, XBOX/PS3 gaming)? The extra res. is only useful for graphics and such like, really.
