Bump, could be because i'm a right fatty

why is this a cap product! i hate it when people make wild statements like this. they are all crap including the iphone which keeps dropping calls, but nothing that stands out bad on this dell streak. And for the price above its a bargain.

Major flaw #1: Lack of Android updates.

Isn't there a link on dells streak page detailing how to update to android 2.2??? Or are you saying that android as an os isn't updated enough?
#9
I swear with any Android product you get about 2 updates and then you're no longer supported. Stupid HTC Magic... Good price though.
#10
I have one of these and I love it. Not too big to drag about with you. Dell released and official 2.2, but if that isn't good enough for you, you can go down the Cyanogenmod route for pretty regular updates. The guys that work on that are awesome.
I use it as my phone, and it is a bit on the daft looking side if you don't use a bluetooth kit. It genuinely gets tiring on the arm on long calls.
I am happy with it. It is peppy, and great for browsing.
#11
Heat added for the price. It's a shame, cos I looked at this before I bought my iPhone. Just a shame it's too big to realistically use as a phone. It would look like you were holding a psp to your ear!

This size is interesting but falls halfway in between a smartphone and a tablet/ipad size. Hopefully they will progress this sort of thing further. I have a friend who's got the Streak and a smartphone but could never quite see why you would buy both.

Let me know when it comes down to about £150 OP :D
#12
good deal, although streak 7 is out soon.
#13
Yeah £150 and I'm in too.
#14
It was not a big seller and did not catch on. Its okay though, just to expensive

Who said that, Steve Jobs himself? Android is the most advanced mobile operating system, hands down.

Have to agree there. It's much more accessible than the iPhone os. I have a 3GS and got the missus a San fran updated to 2.2 with a custom rom it's just awesome. Not as well catered for yet in the app department but that won't b the case for long I suspect.

Great phone/tab. Went the streakdroid route for upgrading and its android 2.2 with a gingerbread skin so pretty much bang up to date + a lot of extras not in standard build.

This phone may not be for mainstream as it does need a bit of tech savvy but once set up its a perfect device + perfect screen size.

That's a misquote and it stems from the 3 attempts it took MS to get Windows off the ground so doesn't apply here. Oh and HTC Magic is getting/has got 2.2 so not moaning about that either lol

iphone has a better os, its all about the money in the app store is what makes iphone great, yeah sure andriod has alot of apps, buts its free, therefore not economically viable for big companies to invest in, damn all you people dont know anything about the world works, also this is not worth £300, 150£ at most only cuz its 5"screen

No iTUNES THIS PHONE SUX

--

Ok kidding aside (I use a Galaxy S) just wanted to say that a 5 incher 1ghz android device is almost a perfect portable media player. Oh and it has a phone too! :)

I'd personally go for the Galaxy Tab for about £40 more, since it has a bigger screen more memory, and Hummingbird CPU.

I'm one of those guys that rarely go past 20 minutes on the phone in a month. And there's a lot of us. :)

I had planned a response to the above post but can't help thinking troll. Instead, I'll ignore and say this (Dell Streak) has been my only phone for several months now and I love it. Android is great, yes I've had iPhone, symbian and WinMo. As previously mentioned, it's not the best phone to hold to your ear but I've not been prone to doing that since SonyEricsson sold me a bluetooth headset somewhere around 2001.
As is always the case horses for courses but I think there's lots of life in this horse.

Ah, whenever I see this I keep thinking dell have gone into cattle farming.

I've had my Streak since November or so. It's great once you get 2.2 or higher on it. For those of us "larger build" folks, it work fine as a phone and the large screen doesn't just look good but helps those fat fingers use the touch screen :)

Really? I have a streak, and the official 2.2 has been out quite a while. The only reason it hasnt been released in the states is because the phone companies are putting their bloatware in it.

I bought a streak on ebay to play with but I ended up selling my regular phone and now I just use the Streak as my main phone. It is so much better for browsing, reading documents etc. and as long as it fits in your pocket... For me it is the best phone out there.

Yeah just realised that now. Oh well, I went through an 18 month contract with the magic and just felt as though I had been left behind. Good to hear it's finally been updated though.

.is it me or is my dell streak screen a bit fuzzy on internet images since I updated to2.2 & I'm not referring to anti-aliasing...I use Tmobile 6 mth internet payg web for £20 & I'm aware Tmobile use heavy image compression..which IIRC could be disabled on the dongles ..Anyway I think the graphic is just a touch soft since the update to 2.2 ..might be just me. Also if anyone has an idea how to turn off the accelerator for web on tmobile using the stock streak android browser . pl's let me know. I've tried using Opera mini which seem to give better rendition but still not as sharp as I'd like it on this 5" screen.
cheers

Best phone out there bar none. With DJ steves custom rom on its the fastest phone on the market, superb as a media player/web browser plus you can use it as a phone. Its not that big, fits fine in my normal size jeans...

Get it, you wont regret it!

This is a good price for a decent product but is it loccked to 02? I know only dell direct were selling unlocked versions previously.
