This item was posted here Two months ago at £320 and went pretty hot - Tesco have now dropped the price to £199 which seems excellent to me. They are also running an offer where you can get a 16Gb microSD card half price(down to £8.99) if purchased at the same time as the Dell Streak.

Be warned - it will work fine as a mobile phone but it's a huge device and will make your head look like it's been shrunk. The same huge screen makes browsing a pleasure though.

If you order it to be collected from a Tesco Store you can avoid all delivery charges.

nice price

Not a bad bit of kit, too big for the pocket but decent size for net work on the go. Had one on O2 a year ago at full price £499 (Locked to O2), took it back within 14 days, but at £199 Sim free def worth a punt, one on order. Cheers

Whats the battery like on this?

I think its a matter of waiting just a bit longer since the ipad 2 has completely destroyed the sector of the market for all its competitors. There must be millions of unsold android tablets begging to be discounted.
#16
Battery life isn't too bad, better when you change the ROM.
Did get annoyingly big for me after a few months so got a samsung galaxy s to replace it.
Great price though so already heated.
#17
just ordered one. after clubcard points, TCB at 3.03% and tesco credit card it should work out at £185. wish there were some discount codes floating around. I know its 5 inch and bit bulky- but if the camera is good and if it does push email thn i think this will become my main phone.
#18
how big is the screen for this?
#19
Good price

400 heats in 90 minutes!! excellent deal OP. i am sure tesco gona go out of stock soon.

Dell streak 7?

No thank you. Twice the weight for 2 extra inches and an extra core? Rather buy the Dell streak for 199!
#25
I am a bit of a self confessed phoneaholic. Some phones such as sony x10 mini manage better than a day (maybe because of the small screen) most blackberry's manage a day +. The new dual core are actually better because both core runs slower most of the time. And are on a smaller die process. But the dell streak basically needs charging twice a day, in truth the battery is to small. This is a great deal though £199 for a great peace of kit.

For £31 more you can get an Advent tablet. Ok no 3G but 10" keeps everyone satisfied :)

Sorry, forget the topic, can't get away from your avatar.

Tempted! Does the fact that it runs on Android 2.1 rather then 2.2 or 2.3 make much difference?

Good deal but i will wait for the recently released tablet with android 3.0 to come down in price.
#33
for that price its a steal, was going to get a 7" of some variety but have ordered this now, very good value for money

thanks OP

Am i right in the assumption this has its own GPS module included? I am looking for a GPS for going to the USA, and I think there should be free GPS software for Android available, is that right?

Then I only need to find a car charger for this device!

+1 want to know this too.
but i have a feeling its not because the vouchers are only valid on Tesco mobile phones. this isnt on the tesco network.

To answer a couple of posts,

Yes it does have gps, and yes free google street maps works a treat. But beware roaming costs of being abroad.

It runs android 2.2 if not out the box, after an update so you can enjoy all the very latest flash and goodies.

2.3 will be a very likely release for this and once the code is made available for honeycomb, i would bet money a good rom will be available for this tablet.

The battery lasts me JUST about a day so be warned, but im a nightly charger so it's all good.

I like the default stage UI too!

Was it worth 399? Not really.

For 199? You'd be mad not to.

I bought the pulse mini from tmoblie with the free Internet for 6 months, I know where that sim is going, my hubby waited too long for it but I can sell him mine ( or eBay it) and put the cash towards this and I've still gotmmy free internet and credit on the sim. Plus very cheap micro sim and 6 months free credit, topcashback and tesco points for the product and for using my credit card. For an offer like this I'll go to a tesco store !

Ordered. £155-£160 after all discounts...get in! :-)

On another note: I guess this could potentially be too big to carry if you are a guy and dont have a handbag.... Or in the summer when you dont have a coat. It is too big for trouser pockets...
