I guess due to unclear description. It would be more precise + obvious other factors you have to face while posting on HUKD. There are many idiots voting cold at anything.
Yes, your deal was almost as good as this one so I do feel sorry for you and I understand your disappointment. Nobody likes to get the deal killed without single reason.

You just got a rep for the effort :)

As 7777777 said the description was too vague and didn't even give the spec at all.
#7
repost?

Don't forget 6% quidco! (recently gone up from 3% probably for a limited time)

Its a pity when I config it the way I want it it comes to £688.99

Not an exact repost - these offers keep changing. Although the base price (£529) is the same, you can now get 3 years advanced (In home) warranty for £39 - this was £80 earlier this week (when I ordered) - I have cancelled and re-ordered with this, so I am grateful this was posted.

(am also ordering a second system for my mother, so its been doubly helpful!)

voted hot BUT.......

seriously consider spending an extra 100 quid and get:
* i7-720 CPU - this CPU rules 8 threads of pure power (don't go further thei7-820 doesnt offer that much of an improvement for £400)
* 7200 speed hard drive still 500GB
* 1GB graphics card - double the memory

Seriously the CPU is worth an extra 100 earth pounds.

Still 100 quid is 100 quid therefore voted hot.

You must be rich to pay sooooooo much for a lapi.
#12
Can you use quidco and the voucher code?

Yes, I have used a voucher and quidco before. The quidco is ex vat and delivery, but I had it track the pre-voucher price (this was on nokia site) before

Can someone comment on the amount of heat these Dell Studio 15 bad boys exhale?

I had the older Dell M1530 laptop with BR burner and the thing felt like it is going to catch on fire!
Heat is also no good for the male organ in between the legs!
#15
For £100 there isn't that much of a difference between processors....

Wait another week or so and this'll have the upgraded GPU in it (which isn't anything special anyway)

Can only see the one that is £150 more - £529 and £679

can second that, had an M1730 die due to overheating. well known problem as well. looking for a decent laptop that doesn't weigh too much so would be interested in knowing whether these studio laptops suffer the same overheating problems.

The GPU offers no significant improvement over whats included and is no way worth the extra £70. If anything, I would recommend getting the 9 cell battery for £60 as the 6 cell included will only give you around 3 hours of juice.

Cracking price for the spec however. Anyone looking for a mid range laptop should jump on this. I feel robbed buying a Samsung R580 this week with lower spec for the same price!

this looks really great (especially the i7 model). I wish it gave an indication of battery life & weight though - anyone any ideas?

had settled on this: http://uk.insight.com/p/HPYA06PA3/hp-probook-5310m-core-2-duo-sp9300-226-ghz.html - but now thinking about the dell! any laptop experts have any advice?
#22
i want to go for this but i also want a 9 cell battery, someone else suggested sticking with a 6 cell from dell and buying a 9 cell elsewhere but i dont know where to find one any ideas?

The GPU is a small step up - it's the combo of GPU, 7200 HD and the CPU - but mainly the CPU....

No question the Dell i5 wins - CPU, RAM & GPU out classed. The i7, which if you hadn't guessed I am a big fan of, takes it to another level.

Thr only question I ask is what do you want it for? Media, games, general use?
#25
just noticed that you can add the ati 1GB 5470 for £70 if that interests anyone, how much better than the standard 4570 is that?

general graphics work (photoshop, illustrator, indesign) + some basic web development (php, mysql) + spreadsheet stuff, office work, & a few stats packages. i do a lot of work on the train, hence the battery & weight questions!
#27
Still so annoying that these Studios come with a 5400rpm drive with no option for a 7200. Weak component in an otherwise good system.

This system( i5) will be more than sufficient. With regards to the battery - well trains have power points, save your money stay with the 6 cell buy a spare power adapter.

I also get a 3% discount because the browers must have a cookie that links to www.dell.co.uk/epp which is the link for Employee Purchase Program. I'd like to know how you got 6%. On the downside the 5% discount code not work so I'll stick with the non EPP option.

Just ordered this lappy with the 1920x1080 screen and backlit keyboard. Well chuffed
