As described obviously you can customize down i.e. battery to a 6 cell and removed backlit keyboard etc, but i've configured it to be a real contender to stuff like the apple max pro's and hp envy's etc !!

check it out hottest for me and i've been looking for a while, batteries reported to last 7ish hours on the 9 cell but you should atleast get 5 realistically, plus its got a quad core processor !

To actually get the price you need to add the 10% discount too ! - NQM2RKRQBT989J

how do you edit the direct link?

anyway to create a good deal on a studio 15 around the 400-500 mark? its not for very complicated use but i struggle to understand what the hells going on with computers and the outlets and configuring ur own etc...

its just the top customisable model with some upgrades
can use the 10% code without touching anything if wanted
studio chassis is in no way a true competitor to macs or even envy
nice machine but not really with much class, for that money may as well spend a little more for an xps even with less ram
or even go for the last 'season' xps for even less and with better graphics+style but less ram

Is the XPS really that much better? As far as I can see all the difference is my XPS has a metal frame on the screen and a flashy bit of leather to make it harder to drop; I guess it may have a stiffer frame but the keyboard, screen etc. are all the same. I've not seen a studio 15 to compare directly though...

The Studio 15s are nice, but the gfx is pretty weak. don't pay big money on these, they are too unbalanced. No point in a crunchy processor if the gfx is junk.
#10
so would you say the balance is better in the xps with a i7 and a 565v graphics card ?

the xps with the equivalent processor costs 999 and you can use the 10% code there id think so its 900 but then i was talking about the 899 one which is the same but with 560v graphics which whilst lesser than the 5650 in current xps are a big step up from the 5470 in the studio.
imo a more rounded system with 4gb ram and decent graphics over 6gb and poor ones.

tbh i dont have an xps but i was just going from previous feedback on xps models.
have a studio 15 here and whilst its nice the keyboard is spongy and so a better chassis and style are not going to hurt - thought keyboard would be better but dunno. 9cell on studio is going to stick out whilst i assume the 9cell on xps is fitted flush as came as standard.

i agree with the keyboard and the xps battery suggestions, and from pictures you can see that is the case, the xps does look like the better buy even if its like £120 more and you lose 2gb's of ram i suppose

the 899 one with 10% code is less than this studio price - can upgrade to better wireless n than in studio for 35 and has bluetooth already. no keyboard upgrade option though for some reason

I've not noticed any spongyness on my XPS so I guess the ali /magnesium frame helps out there.

TBH I didn't realise it has a 9 cell battery - I'll check that out as being last years model it may only be 6 cell - I didn't get much spec on it as it was Dell outlet deal - took me a while to realise it had a blu-ray writer and wireless n card ;-)
I bought it on virtue of it's £575 price, i5-540, HD4670 and 1080p screen.

If you can get by with 128GB HDD it sounds great - (but you don't mention the price) - as the studio XPS 16 it'll have backlit keyboard & Bluetooth as standard and presumably the 560v or 565v graphics.

£1200 is the price sorry ! and yes you presume right it has the 560v and it is a solid state so i should get a much faster laptop, im not worried too much about space because iv got an external 1tb portable drive !

or shall i just go for a new one, that isnt refurbished with the following specs:
i7 720qm
500gb 7200rpm
4gb ram
full hd 1080p wled (not rgb)
1gb graphics card
1 yer guarantee
for £900

That's a scary amount of money to me although it's a lot less than you could get the same system new! I'm afraid I've always been a cheapskate when it comes to my computers. Might be worth putting the question in 'misc' and seeing whether anyone comes up with alternatives.

There was a quite nice Vaio Z deal the other day for around £840 you missed out on. Not an i7 but a T9900 so very close in performance.
