Good deal, especially with the screen. Mike's deal did not include this ecode, and that has now expired anyway. 2 Things to upgrade here to get this deal.

1 - Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz upgrade is free on the processor page.
2 - On the screen page, it is taking £19.99 off to upgrade the screen to a 1440x900 WXGA+ Screen!

These two should bring it down to £379.01 delivered.

Remember Quidco also @ 4% (exc VAT + Delivery) - should come to £12.49.

Already kinda posted here:

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/381242/dell-studio-15-notebooks-with-upgra/

Not the exact same specs but the general details are the same.
#2
Sounds like they are clearing out old parts.

Older graphics chipset!!!!!
#3
Would probably be worth spending an extra tenner for Wireless N wifi, plus, for those who surf in the dark, £20 for the backlit keyboard option would be worthwhile for the convenience, making a groovy machine for £409.
#4
Anyone know the ecode? Going through Quidco.
#5
Whenever I see these Dell deals and I have a look at the customisation options, see loads of slight upgrades for something like £20, then by the time I get to the end, its double the price it started at!

#11
Guys how do you enter the e-code? Where on the website do you enter it?
#12
Down the left hand side of the main pages should be a link to 'shop by eproduct code'.

Link:- http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/topics/topic.aspx/emea/topics/ecomm/evalue?c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1&~ck=anavml

ecode NRS15351-N0453509 should get you to the deal.
#13
thanks!
#14
Am I missing something here?

It seems to have a 1.83Ghz T5550 processor as standard, with an option for a 2GHz T5750 at a cost of £0.00.

FYI, i have a studio 15, there is a problem with the cd drive ejecting everytime you turn it on, which is very annoying, it does it for about 2 mins. Mine is a slot loading type.
The sound is AWFUL, i cannot stress this enough, it literally hurts your ears the treble is so high. The mouse also goes funny sometimes. I phoned them and they wouldn't take any of my problems on board. I wouldn't buy another Dell again.

Web browsing doesn't need very powerful hardware right now, it's as good on a new PC as it is on a five year old one so the specs you choose don't matter from a capability point of view. WIFI WLAN and a DVD-RW are virtually standard on every machine as well.

The only sticking point is windows XP since not many machines come with it any more, most use the newer version of Windows, Windows Vista. Do you have a specific reason for wanting XP?

v strange never heard of that i have had loads of dells never had any problem ...

Seen a couple of deals on these Studio laptops now, does that mean the new range is coming soon? I know it's out elsewhere around the world, does anyone have a clue when they're expected to land? I may hold off until then...

What is the 'actual' price you have to pay for that - £341 I take it?

And how is a 1.66ghz celeron better than a 2.0ghz core 2 duo?

What a muppet! Idiots like this guy should be banned.

Anyway, cant see any good laptop deals lately. Why have they all gone down in spec and up in price.

The pound is worth less so the prices will go up cos they are made in the far east i think.

Its not worth any less than it was 6 months ago. In fact, I think its gone up a little against the € / $

Whilst I would have expected prices to have stayed the same, I would have thought you'd get a better spec for the same money as 6 months ago.

Disagree:

look at

http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/fds/hi/business/market_data/currency/11/12/twelve_month.stm

6 months ago, it was just falling through $1.70, it's now at $1.48, and was below $1.40 around a month ago.

I meant when I bought my far better specd laptop for cheaper (Dec 2008 so 5 months ago - unchanged $ / £ rate @ 1.5, euro moved from 1.05 to 1.13 over the same period)

really cant see how this is a good deal, cpu is so so, only 2gb ram and running vista premium, for me there are better laptops out there for same or a few quid more
#34
Typo in the title, it's not a WUXGA screen

Thanks John!

The deal can be made a lot better now with the arrival of a new 10% discount coupon.

Upgrade the cpu to T8100
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T8100 (2.1 GHz, 800 MHz FSB, 3 MB L2 Cache,)

Add graphics 256MB ATI Mobility RADEON HD 3450

And of course add the upgraded graphics for a discount 15.4" Widescreen WXGA+ WLED (1440x900) TFT Display with TrueLife™

Use the new coupon at checkout and it costs £473.40 delivered.

There are of course other possibilities for upgrades, but the cost must be £499 or more before delivery charge to use the coupon.
#37
What is the 10% discount coupon? I'm after a Studio 16 at the moment due to its screen, I'm having no luck on the outlet and the spec I want is around 1650 pounds.
