Great laptop, doubt you could find better specs anywhere at the moment at this price. I have used Dell for a few years now and never had a problem with their laptops or desktops. Think its time for a new one now, so ... :-D

I would go for this but I just ordered a new 17" Macbook Pro for £1800 with all the trimmings including 3 year warranty :)

Why the hat and gloves? Good price

I've been looking at the studio 15's for the last few days. I specced one up with the t6400 and bluetooth for £536 after discount or with the p8600 for £570 after the discount. There's also another one with added blu ray and 2yr in home warranty with the p8600 for £676.10 after disc.

I keep getting put off when I read the reviews of how bad the speakers are. I've read that the acer speakers are outstanding and have added dolby sound. I can get the 6930g with t6400 1gb of 9600gt graphics but no bluetooth from comet for £540 after using discount.

I can't make my mind up. I want to spend no more than £550, I even looked at the acer 6530 on play for £479 with 512mb 9600gt with blu-ray but with amd's RM-70 processor which is really low on the benchmark lists compared to intels and no bluetooth.

The more I look the harder it is to make a decision.

Thanks OP - Have gone for this with an upgraded HD to 500GB. £501. Was waiting for a 17inch screen but this seems too good to pass up - especially with a half decent graphics card.

It may be worth pointing out that this deal is a great deal if you only intend to take advantage of the free colour upgrade, else go for evalue code N0653502 which has the same specification as this deal without the free colour upgrade option, but you can pick it up for £433 after applying the 10% discount code 27DW23G8T2N5VC - The free colour upgrade is still a nice bonus though !

Any advice would be greatly appreciated ;-) Are the speakers as bad as the reviews make out?

I will soon let you know

Ive ordered a similar spec, couple of weeks back, a studio 15, processor was Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T6400. The network card was Intel WiFi Link 5100, free colour upgrade and facial recognition s/w for 503. And via cashback got 27back, so not a bad price. Its taken almost 3 weeks though to get it. Currently with the courier's so hopefully come in time for the weekend!

I ordered one with a similar spec about a week ago and was a bit disappointed that the 'expected delivery date' ended up being three weeks later as well. Been in 'pre-production' according to the order-tracking system for about a wekk now.

Yes, it is sad how long it takes. Mine is now at delivery stage but the links they gave to the courier doesnt work. It tells me the order number doesnt match the customer number.
When I click on packing slip, that also tells me a similar thing.

Are these dell's made in China? Looking at the Walsh Western site, it seems it is built there since its coming from there

Thanks sylar, for being the only one to reply to my post.

I hope you're very pleased with yours and that it's worth the wait but I've decided to go for a toshiba.

I dont fancy waiting 3 weeks for the laptop to arrive after taking so long myself to finally make a decision lol
