£511.00 for a corei7 laptop seems bl**dy good to me, voted hot!

Having said that, I've just been looking and can't find any core i7 scratch and dent laptops at all.

That also had a 1080P screen and after Quidco came to ~£679.

Just had a look and there was 15 different i7 scratch and dent laptops on there, just have to search for them and only them under the scratch and dent tab?

Couldn't see one as cheap as the OP's but plenty around the £450+ mark

There's one with Blu-ray for £558.

Why is this now expired?

there's 21 available as I type this, one of them being as OP's original listing?

This may be a stupid question but how scratched and dented are scratch and dent laptops? I guess they must be at least in full working order but do they carry a full return guarantee if they are too battered or go wrong inside of a year?

Has anybody bought a scratch and dent laptop from Dell who can comment on just how bad the damage is.

Thanks.

Generally speaking Grade 1 scratch and dent will have at worst a small, purely cosmetic, scratch somewhere on the case. If you can see it at all, it will be something you will have to be looking for.
Grade 2 scratch and dent will have a more serious fault like a deep gouge in the casing. Either way you get a full 1 year warranty and you keep all the rights your entitled to under the distance selling regulations :)

Grade 1 Scratch and dent are no problem as there are no dents only minor to very minor scratches.
Grade 2 sounds a bit risky to me and I haven’t bought any so can’t comment.

Some look like good deals. I bought a Studio 1749 in the last couple of weeks. Looked out for a laptop worth upgrading to that wasn't going to cost the earth. I got a Studio 1749, i5 @2.4Ghz, 4Gb RAM, 500Gb 7.2k rpm HD, the 900p screen (which wasn't what I wanted, I was hoping to hold out for the full HD screen, but to be honest I find myself squinting at 900p on a 17in screen, thank Dell for the iPhone style touch pad zoom feature!), DVDRW (again I was hoping to hold out for BluRay, but something had to give for the price). This cost £517 inc VAT (delivery was free, I assume it still is).

I was pleasantly surprised to find the laptop also came with the Bluetooth option, the Intel wireless-N option, and an 85WHr battery (9 cell I believe). All in all, depending on how you spec the machine through Dell's website, the total value of the laptop is between £870 and £990. I bought it as a Certified Refurbished machine, so I can't comment on scratch and dent condition. I can say that if you're using Windows Vista on a laptop a 2 or 3 years old the upgrade is worth it. The performance jump is very noticable, and the quality of the Studio (at least with the 1749) is pretty good. Some nice features on it too, like a "sub" underneath to give a little bass to the sound, the touch buttons are nice for volume and play/pause functions. The keyboard is good to type on (you get the number pad on the 1749 which is handy, though I still reach for the top row of numbers forgetting the number pad is there). I think one feature of all laptops with the number pad included that I don't agree with is the offset mousepad. I understand why it's there, because otherwise your righ hand would be on the mouse pad while touch-typing, it just takes some getting used to.

One last thing to mention, if like me you're impatient and expect things to arrive next day as so many things these days do, you'll be a bit frustrated to learn that despite the fact your purchase is already built it will still take a good week to arrive. A good chunk of the delay is that the courier is in no major hurry to deliver (possibly why Dell can offer free delivery). So where most suppliers will offer next day delivery on their product line, these pre-built machines will take at least a week to arrive - probably worth it for the savings though.

Does anyone know why some of the processors are listed as Click System ID?

Yeah - I'm seeing that on a 1749 I'm looking at - I'm guessing whopever entered the details didn't know the processor details so left it 'blank'.
The price is way more than garlum paid - so unless it's an i7 it wouldn't be worth me buying :(

I don't know where you were looking but I saw plenty around the time if your post - I guess you weren't using the the search tools right. There are still over 20 i7.

Do as the OP advises: "Link probably will not work but just seach laptops by processor i7 1600"

They are individually priced so need to be compared on an individual basis. Just look at www.dell.com

There was not, I have purchased and often check dell outlet so i am familiar with the search.
Just checked again under stated and:

"Sorry. No inventory matching your filter options above was found at this time. You may want to choose different filter options now, try your search again later, or You can reach us at [email protected]">[email protected]"

The search filter feature on the Dell Outlet site is ropey at best. I found the best method to see what was actually available was to re-order the list in reverse order of model type, and so Studio laptops would show up first in the list. I've just checked the Dell Studio website and oh dear, it looks like Dell have been playing with the layout. It's much more difficult to compare potential purchases now. A lot less suitable for bargain finding by the looks of it.
