Dell do the Blue Ray version and 4gb for £949!

Great deal.
Was tempted by something similar (22 inch HP I think) when they were on QVC but
they were £900.
Ordered one, wonder if we'll be eligible for Win7 upgrade?

Many thanks.

P.S the messages on here may make you think twice about this. I reckon it's worth a try

Wasn't there something about curry's deals ending in 97p?

Ending up not being available?
#8
after reading the dell forums, i am steering well clear of this.

I think this denotes clearance stock, i.e. store specific, or at least restricted availability. This seems to be available online though.

Looked at one of these a few months ago but waaaay too much for a touch screen at that time (what do you do with a touch screen anyway...novelty aspect?..I have a touch screen XT for work but never make full use of it).....that said I am very close to ordering:whistling:

EDIT: out of stock now
#14
Good price though I wouldnt advise anybody buy anything from Dell, ive just had an awful experience with them, their customer service doesnt exsist
#15
I ordered one, and am assuming a win 7 upgrade is eaily possible. Thought this would be a nice addion to the kitchen.
Such an addict for new tech, thats my problem!
#16
So annoyed I missed this. Have some cheaper models at work and they are great. Tried all the stores of both currys and pcworld but none left.

Phoned currys to see about the win7 upgrade , all u have to do is call dell with the serial code and they will send a copy of win7 ...yehh haa .. waiting for this to arrive .. exited .
but i am still waitng for the quidco to track .. i raised an enq to quidco and they said it will take longer ...
#18
FYI my quidco track at about £12. Only had two emails not the third so hope there isnt a problem about stock. The Dell Win 7 upgrades take some time so I wount hold hope for it before xmas.

Good deal but tbh I don't see the point of a touchscreen deskop PC. I can see the use in a tablet or HTPC, but not on a standard workstation.
#21
As stated on the dell forum mentioned above the Dell Touchscreen software only works with Vista so if you load Windows 7 you no longer have a touchscreen PC.
#22
Thats a bit pointless then, as Windows 7 is designed for touchscreens.
#23
Mine arrived today.
I'd not realised how heavy it was.
I'd forgotten how much I hate Vista. Anyone applied for the Win7 upgrade from Dell?

I thought I saw something on Curry's website that said you could pick it up in store
but I can't find that any longer. It says you have to register on Dell's website.

Interesting...I saw the same thing on the site about win 7. Your right about VISTA. It didnt look hevier than a loptop though. Hope its note as i have to balance it on a bookcase..

what will happen to teh dell only hadwriting type apps if you upgrade to 7. I was actaullyt thinking of doing a claen install..
#25
guys .. dont waste time phoning dell for an upgrade .. do it online
https://win7.dell.com
all u need is a service tag which is found under your monitor ..
i have completed and its about £ 11 for delivery and taxes .. my order for win 7 is now processing stage ...
#26
Tried Dell's website but it didn't like my tag.

Tried phoning them (aaaarrrggghh) and eventually was told to speak to Currys.

Hopefully they can sort it out!

Phoning Dell is a disaster .. 30 minutes of your time is wasted .. my estimated shipping date was 30th of Dec , and i have send an e-mail to dell customer services to make it faster ... bingo .. shipped today :) .. its coming from US via UPS ... i hope there is not gonna be any upgrade problems as in America thery are already selling studio one 19s with windows 7 installed ,with no problems for touch options ..lets see

Good to know that the problems are sorted .. yeh i am very happy with the machine .. its super fast and the photoshop runs briilant ..my windows 7 is scheduled to be deliverd on24th of dec.. but i guess probably after christmas .. anyway i started trasfering files now ,as upgrade will not delete the programmes or files ..

Got the windows 7 this morning .. installed .. slight problem with the touch zone as some of the ikons were not showing the programme .. but solved by installing the following driver from dell (ref: mark from finger tapps)
now working ..absolute perfection ..

In case anyone who bought one of these machines is monitoring this thread...

I managed to download a copy of "Microsoft Touch Pack for Windows 7"
from a torrent. It's about 330Mb in size. (Search for "Touch Pack Drop 4" in Vuze)

This contains a few applications that work with multi-touch touchscreens, such
as this Dell. They're worth getting hold of. Unfortunately MS aren't selling this yet.
They give it away, but only in OEM form, and it looks like Dell aren't in the club.

To get it to work I had to uninstall the "NVIDIA PhysX 909.04.28" via Control
Panel/Add remove progs.
I then installed NVIDIA PhysX 909.04.28 using the "PhysX_8.04.25_SystemSoftware.exe" that's part
of the Touch Pack.
