Yes the other deal is better but I have a quad on order from the outlet. Thinking about cancelling and going for this but it's still going to be a few hundred pounds more even if I sell the monitor. Oh I hate choice!

This system differs from the other Dell COrei7 deals posted. Basically your sacrificing the4850 for a 3650. Getting a standard DVD-RW instead of Blu-ray, and losing a TV tuner. You do get a 23" screen though.

I personally would up to 6Gig for £60 if I had the cash. Don't know how dells 4GB tri-channel "edit" functions in comaprison to standard tri-channel (other deal posted)

dell make some good machines, never had any problems and the CS is spot on.

I ordered the D01SX04 from the previous thread for £712.09 (with the 4850 graphics card and 6gb ram) but having just run it through again with this deal, the same pc is £654.11 !!! (and i forgot quidco!).

So does anyone know how to cancel the order? I can't see anything on their website. Or should i just ring up and complain?? Maybe i should just order the new one and send back the first one when it arrives? It's a potential £86.41 cheaper (including quidco)!!! :o

I bought the XPS One a few weeks ago and i'm sure in the paperwork there is a dedicated CS line for XPS owners? Not sure if its in India though?

Dell XPS is uk support (unlike normal Dell support) and quite good, however they are quite quick to want to restore the system to backups if it's software related (or disk). So make sure you do backup regularly!

Had a few problems with mine by the engineers and customer service is very good for business customers anyway, although was expecting delivery of a new PC on Friday and it didnt turn up ! But Generally happy with Dell

My personal experience with Dell is that they have atrocious after sale and CS (several occasions).

Dell systems are decent spec and usually well made, but people should not compare own build with Dell. Whilst they are usually now cheaper than own build, due to bulk buying, their systems lack features. This means that in a year or two (maybe longer for some), when you could possibly upgrade or overclock, you will be more restricted in what you are able to do.

For the majority of consumers however, Dell remain a good cost effective solution. I am unsure about XPS as they may have more features like overclocking (only a google away, but I'm tired, yawn, ah, stretch - sorry)

I do still worry about Dells dominance, they have broken many laws over in the states (many here too, but it hasn't hit the press due to smaller scale), but I suppose this would be the case of any corporation who has the finance to leverage/bully its way through the courts/media.

On the Studio 540 the parts were all standard, not custom power supplies and motherboards as they previously used which made upgrading anything major virtually impossible. I'm fairly sure the Studio XPS is the same so come a couple years down the line you should be able to swap anything out as needed. This is what I did with my previous desktop machine as I couldn't be bothered building one from scratch when there was a good deal on a prebuilt machine, I just gradually changed and upgraded as I would have done with a build of my own with the current version of the machine only containing the hard drive and optical from the original PC.

With regards to their after sales service I have to disagree about them being atrocious, very few companies offer a next day onsite service for as low as Dell do and it's extremely handy being able to phone up Dell, get a problem diagnosed and thn have someone come out and sort it the next day. I realise it doesn't always work that way (currently in a dispute with them over the repair of the laptop) but on balance I find them pretty good in comparison to others in their pricerange.

If you stick with the 3650 it does have HDMI. Mine does.

I changed from building my own custom builds a hew years ago when Dell desktops became so cheap that I couldn't build them any cheaper myself. I was pleasantly surprised. The first machine I bought was a 9200, it was quiet, well-built and apart from the proprietary motherboard which allowed no overclocking, all components were quality brands such as samsung, WD etc.

I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger with this deal, it's outstanding value. The only thing stopping me at the moment s the fact that I would like the monitor with the super high resolution, but they insist on a premium of over £100 when the price difference with stand alone monitors is less than £40. They wont budge on the price over the phone.
