Was £729 so although many may not be interested in the deal it is a good price drop of over £100

1TB graphics?!?!?!?!

1tb Graphics = 1024gigabytes on a graphics card, we're a few years away from that :)

To help you decide if good value heres a resent survey of PC reliability, Dell nearly the worst in every category

My XPS420 is 18 months old and had two faults. The video card died after I tried to overclock it and Dell replaced it inside 48 hours under waranty.

The hard drive died on the hottest day of the year when I tried to defrag the disk and leave the office door shut. Again, that was my fault, can't blame Dell for either.

thats lousy - my acer pc is 6 years old and has never had a fault

Overclocking graphics cards is by definition using them outside their specs.

Depending on how hot the office got, you could easily exceed the operating specs on the HD, and defragging means the disk is busy 100% of the time, so it's very much worst case treatment.

suprised dell replaced the graphics card under warranty considering u have tampered witht he specs on the machine, which usually voids the warranty.

I am using dell xps now, not had many problems. Sometimes bluescreens but i blame vista!

Good deal in my opinion.. obviously the graphics isn't 1tb or if it was then it might project a 3d image so u wont have to use a monitor!!:w00t:

Hands up - Both failures were my fault - not Dell!

The two outer walls of my home office face west and south. From about 2pm the southern wall is heated up, after 6 it's the western wall that takes the full blast. It's only a small room at 6 x 7 and with 2 PC's and 2 screens and in the winter I don't need any heating as it's nice and cosy. On the day the HDD died my room was absoultely cooking and I am surprised I didn't do more damage than just a HDD failure. So Xenny is right, It was 'worst case treatment' on my part!

What I'm trying to stress is that I love my XPS. It's quiet, good looking, practical, fast and simply works - if I had the cash to spare I'd be going for the XPS that's being promoted here.

Seeing as the manuals usually tell you how to open them up and install gear, I think this old chestnut needs putting to bed!
