The picture in first post is wrong, that is the much more expensive ultrasharp model. Good deal though all the same

A friend of mine has this screen. It's fantastic.

Real shame there's no HDMI though.

this is the basic version of Dell's 24" with no extras like a usb hub and s-video in.

very nice monitor

why would it have hdmi if it has no bulit in speakers?

DVI is digital video only, and infact has better video quality than HDMI, hence why alot of monitors just have DVI, because they dont have speakers (or audio output) so cant accept a sound signal

hope this explains why this great monitor doesnt have, and doesnt need HDMI :)

Weird site when I click the BUY button it closes the tab!

I bought two of these before Christmas from these guys. STUNNING service and ultra quick delivery. These guys are the cheapest around for these boys.
#8
You could use a HDMI-DVI adapter and have no loss in image quality

good find, great buy

Just would be nice to share it with a console or HDMI output DVD player and a PC, rather than having to botch it with a DVI switchbox and a HDMI>DVI adaptor for the console. I do this with my 360, and often switching back to the PC means you get no video, and have to blindly reboot it to get the image back. Really irritating.

Although not on offer at the moment you may want to consider:

its got a VA panel :)

I'm trying hard not to buy this, but I think it's unavoidable... it's £404 from Dell...

Any idea which is the better bet? Dell monitors are normally pretty decent, and I've heard bad things about OCUK... plus the dead pixel guarantee from PcBuyIt is pretty nice.

Good deal but for the small diff in price, I would sooner have this monitor instead myself

That because some of us want to play PS3, xbox 360, dvd upscale etc... Multi use. Also we won't have to disconnect the dvi cable all the time, so can have the pc and ps3 connect upto the monitor  a component would be a plus as well:p

HDMI is DVI plus audio. The signal quality is the same (but DVI may not have HDCP whereas HDMI does).

indeed

i'd like to know exactly how DVI has better picture quality than HDMI??? :?

I think someone doesnt know what they are on about, both are digital connections and thus the end result in picture quality are the same, the only difference would be HDCP and the audio carried by HDMI

problem with xbox 360+ ps3 (i think) is that it doesnt support that native resolution, so it will have a fuzzy picture, they both support 1920x1080 but not 1900x1200
suspended#20
decent deal, the 2408wfp by dell is out very soon btw, some places have the 30" in stock, the 24" will be along very soon.

decisions, decisions.... Just sold my two 19" TFT's to get a single 24" - but do I get this DELL E248WFP or the Samsung SM245B...??? Any advice on which is best and why?

I'm pretty sure this monitor (like most other dell's) has 1:1 pixel mapping. And since the 360 and ps3 can output at 1920x1080 that is what you will see on your monitor.

However, if you want to play your wii, it will look like **** and will be displayed in a 16:10 ratio. At least that's the case with my dell 24" 2407WFP. It can't upscale 480p sources at all well. But since this monitor doesn't have a component input anyway, it's of little relevance.
