Good price, though I'm amazed the 20" is now £437 as it was £285 recently.

Yeah :| That's a lot for a 20" and shows just what a bargain the recent offer was ;)

Just to bump this thread (rather than create a new one)...

the Dell 24" (2407WFP) is currently £566.64
http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1&sku=59234

I've been keeping an eye over the past few months on the price of this monitor, and the current price seems very good:

26-June-2006: £824.85
03-Aug-2006: £619.00 (According to the OP)
11-Sept-2006: £754.35
29-Sept-2006: £566.64

Does anybody know if this monitor works well with an XBOX360? (from personal experience?)

----

Meanwhile. the 20" widescreen monitor (2007WFP) is currently £302.27
http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1&sku=59233

26-June-2006: £437.10
13-July-2006: £328.71
25-July-2006: £285.35
29-Sept-2006: £302.27

thanks kowalski... nice price (your username is from stargate?)

Thanks kowalski! It might be worth it's own thread as it's been two months and the new price is substantially lower.

This is a superb monitor (Im using it now hehehe) and I havent regretted my purchase ever. The price fluctuates alot, but the current price is superb. It has alot of inputs, and xbox360 will work, but I have read mixed reports on the web. Sorry cant offer more than that. For pc, web and gaming and even tv off my tv card, it just cant be faulted. Oblivion on this thing is an absolute treat!!

Now I just need more games that do widescreen mode lol.

Oh make sure you have a monster graphics card for this baby ;)

I am dribbling on my desk at the though of this monitor....http://bestsmileys.com/eating2/6.gif

I have the older version of this Dell 24" monitor -- I've had it around 10 months and I'm very happy with it.

I'm considering purchasing a 2nd monitor and this may well be on my shopping list. Also keeping a close eye on the XBOX360 Premium bargains that seem to be cropping up, so I was curious if it would go well with the monitor

I really want it but.... :(

I did a little research into this area some time back, and most reviews gave me the impression dell monitors were bad for gaming applications, but pretty good at office work.

I wouldn't buy a dell monitor for the simple reason dell prices are about as stable as a hollywood marriage.

Not sure where that came from but I've used the 20" (2001FP) & 20" widescreen (2005FPW) & they are great for gaming - no blurr or smearing at all. Some of the older models had slow refresh rates but then most did then unless you were going to pay an arm and a leg.

Not sure where you heard this, but the 2001fp, 2005fpw and the 2405fpw were popular choices amongst gamers as they have genuine 32 bit colour and <=16ms - Dell sell a lot of monitors, I think you're generalising incorrectly across the entire range.

I must have had it mixed up with something else then....my mistake.

After serious consideration I have dusted off the credit card and ordered one.

Thanks to everyone for their posts.

Looks like a trip to E-bay now for my old monitor.

Does anyone know what you credentials you need to buy this item (2407WFP) from the Dell 'Small Business' website?

It's listed on there at £479.25 !

http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=bsd&cs=ukbsdt1&sku=59234

I am self-employed and run my own website business -- do I qualify to use this Dell off-shoot site?

I bought this monitor
I can say I am very happy with the purchase... very very nice monitor

Cheaper base price here (£540.49) - but marginal with Quidco. Postage costs on either side would be the deciding factor...

I have been keeping an eye on the 30" version here (£939.99) cheapest I have seen and these prices are at least a month old.

Good review for the 30 incher here:

Never heard of StelingXS - I'd be tempted to go direct through Dell a pay a little extra for peace of mind. SterlingXS's website looks very amateurish - sets off a few warning signs for me

I ordered one from Dell and got the newest revision A03 monitor.

Watch out if you're ordering from overclockers, etc as they say quite clearly in their adverts that they are selling the A02 version - according to various websites this revision still suffered from colour banding issues which was resolved with A03.

Although forget playing games at the native resolution, even with top crossfire or quad sli setup. This to me means its just not worth it. And if its for just desktop use I would justify multiple monitors more. 24" is basically the topend for gaming right now. Maybe dx10 cards will change all that ;)

ps. I have rev a02 and I just cannot see the banding. Maybe im a pleb or something but in real life use its absolutely fine. Some of the people on those sites are just far too anal about things to my mind!! (even they admit they cant see it unless they pul the colour test up on screen!!)

Just bumping this thread as the Dell 24" Monitor just dropped from £754.35 back to £566.64... seems to jump between these prices regularly
