This quality monitor was cheaper over easter at Dell, this is best price I've seen since.

The Gateway monitor - available from Tesco (£450) appears to be a reasonable alternative to the Dell.

I seriously doubt that. With Dell's customer support and return to base waranty i wouldnt touch a gateway from Tesco. These can be had for a tad less than this though.

Dell's Ultrasharp monitors are a lot better than the Gateways standard monitors. I think the Gateway from Tesco should be compared only to the non-ultrasharp Dell (a fairer comparison)

i'm happy with mine and i can say its a worthwhile buy.. ring them (dell) up and say this was cheaper at easter - you may get it at £400

The Dell monitors use the same factory LCD panels as the high-end Apple Cinema Displays if I remember correctly. So don't let the branding fool you, these are some well-repected, cost effective and great quality products.

Of course, you'll need to calibrate it properly to make the visuals pop. But the potential is definately inherent.

I do however remember there being an issue with one of the revisions of this panel. It would be worthwhile checking up on whether the ' Revision A04' is the effected product at a stock clearance discount.

(EDIT= I just did a quick check and it seems that it was the 'Revision A03' panel that had some minor defects. )

the 2407 is a stonking monitor.

the gateway really doesn't come near it i'm afraid.

Why is there no explanation for the -25.4 ?

Good price for those that didn't grab the £407 Easter bargain on this monitor :)

Bit chilly in here :giggle:

4 year DELL warranty (not thru Ocuk)

Revision A04 (rather than troublesome A03)

Cheapest price anywhere since easter (If you werent able to get one then)

So because one person was delivered a duff panel by a third party, you would advise against the product?!

Come on man, stop scare-mongering. Reading some of that link I'd be less likely to purchase from Overclockers UK than I would Dell.

Clearly there customer service is attrocious, as they refused to take responsibility for their own faulty stock item, and instead attempted to palm the responsibility onto the manufacturer, who the guy didn't even have an order with!

The monitor is highly rated and probably the best 24" on the market...but I just wouldn't order it from Overclockers UK - their customer service is appailing - I've lost £60 with them (refused to refund an unwanted motherboard within 7 days) will never shop with them again. All they are interested in is your money! They ignored my letters too...be prepared if things go wrong ;)

Sorry...I didn't mean the product I meant the deal. I understand why that didn't seem clear in my previous post.

I have found all Dell gear to be of a high standard

It's hardly scare mongering (looked quite obvious that he meant the deal, not the actual monitor itself - maybe its just me knowing how bad OCuk are) - OCuk are notorious for their VERY poor customer service. If it were me paying this much for a monitor, i'd stay well clear and order from a more reputable company (direct through Dell is the best option).

You clearly didn't follow it up properly, they're not above the law.
