Hands down best monitor ever made (yes iSheeple, better than the iMac screen). But it doesn't come in cheap though!

A steal for anyone on the lookout for one...

Oh boy, if I had the cash. Although I once spent close to this on a CRT monitor some years ago, a 21" Sony CPD-G520, and guess how much I'd likely get for it if I sold it now....

I would LOVE this monitor, if it was £300 I would buy it but I would rather get 3x24" for that price. This is a cheaper 2560x1440 option

Great monitor. Been looking at these for a while.

Just a note that there have been reports that the factory calibration is pretty rubbish. If you at all care about calibration, you'll be redoing it yourself anyway though.

Not as good as an Apple screen.
(Apple use H-IPS)

For one, Apple uses LED backlighting whereas the U2711 sticks with CCFL technology. But isn't CCFL worse? That depends on what you're after; the iMac 27 offers a 72% color gamut while the U2711 has a 102% color gamut (based on the CIE 1931 standard). Using RGB LEDs, it would be possible to get a similarly high color gamut, but our experience with RGB LEDs to date is that they cost more and consume more power than regular LEDs, so we can understand Dell's interest in sticking with the "older" technology. (We've only seen RGB LEDs in a few laptops so far, and as one example it's a $175 upgrade on the Dell Studio XPS 16 compared to a regular white LED display.)
