This deal would suit my gf perfectly. Just checking though, is it cool to order from the small business section if you're just a regular member of the public?

Thanks

I've adjusted the deal so it points to the home site now, so no worries.

No need to put your dsr at risk on the small business site, Dell Nylon Carry Case (15") [Included in Price] on the home site too.

It comes with Ubuntu rather than Windows. And it is slightly more expensive. On the other hand 3 years NBD. Nice. BTW, I've purchased a laptop from them and received it this morning.

Ordered this on 10 December with the upgrade to AMD Athlon 64 x2 processor, and with XP Home for £329.07. The estimated delivery was given after the order was accepted of 31 December, which was near enough for Xmas for a grateful teenager!
I today received an e mail putting estimated delivery back to 30 January, which is a bit too long to wait.
Can someone advise please:
Can I cancel , get a full refund and look for a better deal?
Will my card have been debited with the money yet?
Are there any good Dell deals without delays at present, and what may the delay be caused by?

Just started looking for a £300-£400 laptop myself, is this 1 of the best about?

doublekite, you can cancel any home site order and get a full refund, dell will prob have ringfenced the money on your ccard but not taken it, once cancelled it may be a week before that money is free again.
Here are the lead times dell are suggesting lead times

Thanks Mike. Do you have any ideas of an alternative machine at about same price which may deliver quicker?

I'm in the exact same position as you may have seen in another Dell thread.

I ordered the laptop on 4th December and have an expected delivery date of 2nd Feb...unless it changes again.

I was also ordering it for someone else so I feel pretty lousy about getting their hopes up and having to repeatedly tell them it's being delayed.

With reference to my delayed order mentioned above, I now have a delivery date of tomorrow 4 Jan. This is after an initial delivery date of 31 December was given, which was changed to 31 January just before Xmas. So don't pay much attention to their delivery dates!
